It's time to start thinking about the OLYMPIA again! For those of you who aren't familiar with this annual event...Mr. Olympia is the big bodybuilding title that Arnold Schwarzenegger is well known for having held (7 times).
The Olympia is probably one of the biggest bodybuilding/fitness events in the world! The Expo is a fun event where you can check out all the new products coming out in the fitness industry, watch some great competitions and presentations, AND come away with bags and bags of freebies like nutritional supplements, protein bars, energy drinks, T-shirts, and magazines. The Expo is open 10AM to 5PM Friday and Saturday (9/27/13 and 9/28/13).
You can join me as I watch the various contests and make my way around the expo, or you can make your own schedule and meet up with us later. Generally, I drive out on Thursday night, then head over to the expo on Friday morning to watch Fitness/Figure pre-judging. I resume my exploration of the expo for the rest of the day, then go to dinner and afterwards head to the Orleans Arena to watch the Fitness Olympia Finals (along with Bikini Olympia Finals, Ms. Olympia bodybuilding finals, and Mr. Olympia bodybuilding pre-judging).
Saturday is more of the expo. Then, for the Mr. Olympia finals that evening, our group is usually content to grab take-out or order delivery, so we can watch the web broadcast of the finals from the comfort of our hotel suite.
Of course, there is also the infamous Vegas nightlife as entertainment. So you have that as an option, as well!
We'll be driving back on Sunday, at least one carpool leaving around 11AM. Once again, you are welcome to hang with us, or do your own thing!
Right now, I'm holding reservations for a couple of rooms at the Embassy Suites Convention Center (3600 Paradise Road). This hotel is just a one-block walk from the site of the Olympia Expo (making it MUCH EASIER to unload your arms of all the freebies you collect throughout the day). It is also right next to the Las Vegas monorail stop, giving you easy access to the Strip. Each room has 2 double beds and a sofabed. Refrigerator and Microwave. Free cooked-to-order breakfast buffet. Complimentary evening reception (with free beverages and snacks). If there are 4 people in each room, total hotel cost per person is $127.25 (covering Thursday through Saturday nights). Room can actually fit 5, so if we have that many, the cost will be less ($108.40). I have 2 rooms reserved (total of 10 people max). RSVP as soon as possible if you want to stay at the hotel with us. First come, first serve. I can reserve more rooms if needed, but the same price is not guaranteed.
I will need a $25 deposit to hold a space in the hotel room for you. It is refundable if you cancel by September 19th, 2013. Please send your check/money order for $25:
1732 Aviation Blvd. #305
Redondo Beach, CA 90278
