1990 Ford Road, Newport Beach, CA
We'll have a fun game of ultimate frisbee in the park, then relax and enjoy a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." (Free admission, but Shakespeare By The Sea gratefully accepts donations.)
How to find us - Park is located at Bonita Canyon Dr. & Mesa View Dr. Look for our orange (& some yellow) cones marking our field not far from the Shakespeare stage at the park. To join us later only for Shakespeare, look for our Fitness Fun Meetup sign set up next to our blankets (on LEFT side of stage as you are facing it).
What is Ultimate Frisbee? Basically it's a combination of soccer and football, but you don't get tackled and you use a Frisbee instead of a ball.
Don't worry if you haven't played before, we're just out to have some fun! Every newbie caught on within 5 minutes and came back for more. Plus, we'll be running around and having such a great time that you won't be thinking about the fact that you're working out!
First team to get to 10 points wins the game. We generally get in about 2 games, sometimes 3.
(Back-up plan if we do not have enough to play a game -- we'll take a short 2-mile hike between Bonita Canyon Park & Arroyo Park
Afterwards, we'll sit on our own blankets or chairs to enjoy Shakespeare By The Sea's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," showtime 7PM. If you don't know the plot and sometimes have trouble understanding "Shakespearean" language, check out this summary...as it makes viewing the production much more fun if you know what's going on. http://www.sparknotes.com/shakespeare/msnd/summary.html
If you don't want to prepare & bring a picnic dinner for yourself, we'll also walk across to a cafe before the show to pick up some food for those who desire.
