I did not use the lounge area but it looked nice.

Liked the concept loved the seats and the service, found the food to be greatly lacking in quality and way to expensive for the experience.I would go to this venue again, however i would make sure not to buy the food. We're the Millers was a very good comedy, lots of laughs and a good ending.
Our group ended up going to the mexican resturant across the street

    Thanks Stacey

Thank you Dave! I 100% agree with you regarding the VIP Lounge. Glad it was a funny show that you enjoyed. I was going to stay in the area, and then there was a suggestion of the Pony Corral. I think it turned out well though, except we missed you people!!!

    • Stacey

I am sure it was great, and if I it would have been a great close place for us all to meet up. What matters is it all worked out for the evening. That is a nice patio.

The movie "The Butler" was well done and as it was based on a true story I found it emotional and informative. The history of the racism and segregation of the black people is something I have read and seen a lot about but this movie gave me a different perspective and a lot to think about. The VIP theatre was very comfy and the service personally to your seat was nice but I think there could be improvement with the quality and a greater selection of food for the price.
I would go back & very glad I went but perhaps not order the food. It was nice seeing everyone who went out to the Pony Coral after but missed seeing the others who went to "The Millers" Hope you enjoyed the show and your evening.

I enjoyed the movie, loved the seats... would have been better with someone to snuggle up to! Cocktails were very good, food not so good.

I enjoyed seeing the Butler, for it was a well directed and acted movie. One of the goals of a good movie, is to feel what the characters are going through. I did feel their pain. When the movie ended I was speechless because I didn't really go to feel pain, but I left the theatre enlightened a bit more on what black people went through in life in the early 1900s. Great acting. Very believable. Many behind me in the theatre were reacting to the movie as if they were in it. I could hear gasps, crying and "no!" as they were sympathetic to the story line. The VIP Lounge is nice and cozy, but I have to say it was a very expensive outing and not one I will do any time soon due to the cost. It was great seeing most of you. Tell us how the other two movies were. I hear that The Worlds End wasn't all that good??? What about the Millers???

    August 25, 2013

    • Stacey

I didn't get to see the people that went to the Millers. How was it?

      August 25, 2013

About 2/3s of us went to the Pony Corral on Grant afterward. I had a nice time.

For those of you wanting to see We're The Millers at 7:45, Dave, Isabel, myself, and my coworker have prepurchased our seats and are in seats B3, 4, 5 and 6. I believe B1, 2, 7 and 8 are still available. To purchase online, click here: http://cineplex.com/Theatres/TheatreDetails/Cineplex-Odeon-McGillivray-and-VIP-Cinemas.aspx I will be at the theatre around 7pm.

Does anyone want to go out to a pub or bar after the movies? Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe around 10pm?

    August 24, 2013

    • Stacey

I think that would be a good idea. Some are interested in coffee, others a drink. What do any of you say? It would be good to stay in the area. There is a Boston's Pizza lounge, or a Wendy/Tim Horton's near by. Any other ideas???

      August 24, 2013

  • Lorraine M

I have not been to this place since it was the cheap one. Since some of you have already bought your tickets for one of the movies, whom besides myself is seeing The Butler? Sounds like if we buy our tickets early we will make sure we all sit together for The Butler, or is this not a concern?

    August 24, 2013

    • Kylie

I have no idea how this pre arranged seating thing works, or if I"m completely mis interpreting it. I aim to be there around 6 - 6:15, and when I find others, I' figure I'll buy my ticket when I get there. (6:30 show) I'll likley be wearing a bright green shirt with a watemellon on it, looking around for people I've never met :). I am a little confused as to if this is a VIP showing or a regular/cheap show. My cell is[masked]-2065. See yas there! I'll likely be up for finding some eats after the show, but I'm bus (osborn village-ish) dependant, and dont' know the system well, I"m fairly new to the Peg. See yas all there! .

      August 24, 2013

    • Stacey

Kylie, look for me and I will look for you. I will be wearing jeans and a peach shirt. I look like my photo. I am buying my ticket there.

      August 24, 2013

  • Barbara

Cannot make it for the Butler. Will come out for the Millers at 7.45

    August 24, 2013

Will there be plans to meet up after the movies?!

    August 24, 2013

I'll be seeing World's End... Anyone who is going to see it and has purchased your ticket, what's your seat # so I can be close by?

    August 24, 2013

Going to The Butler at 6:30. Looking forward to it!

Finished watching Monsters Inc. with my kids tonight. Love the movie but believe I'll appreciate something a little more dramatic tomorrow evening. I'm seeing The Butler (6.30). It's my first event...so please be gentle. Look forward to meeting y'all.

    August 23, 2013

    • Stacey

I look forward to meeting you Katarina! Don't worry, we don't bite, except Dave M, but he is really nice about it. Just kidding. Sorry Dave. Just had to take the shot. :)

      August 24, 2013

    • Stacey

Even though it says 7pm on the meet up, come for no later than 6:15pm, since that movie starts at 6:30pm. Earlier if you can to make sure you connect with everyone. We will meet just inside the theatre.

      August 24, 2013

  • Bev

I just came back ... to a ton of emails. Stacey is everyone buying their tics online or just showing up? I am confused on that part.

    August 23, 2013

    • Loretta

My preference is the butler but I will do what majority wants to do. Just need to know whether I should buy my ticket in advance and whether anyone wants to meet up for a drink first.

      August 24, 2013

    • Stacey

They going to the 6:30pm movie of The Butler. Meet us there for no later than 6:15pm. Earlier if you can.

      August 24, 2013

  • Arny H

Hi ... I will be seeing the Butler at 6:30. See you all there.

    August 23, 2013

  • Shirley

I will see The Butler 6:30 is good for me.

    August 23, 2013

  • Ingrid G.

We could always split up and go to different ones. The Butler and The Worlds end, end around the same time. The Butler starts 6:30 ends around 8:45, the worlds end starts 7:10 to about 9. It's too bad The Millers doesn't start till 7:45 and ends 9:35. The Millers would be my last choice but it would of been nice if everyone could see the movie they want (cause it is an expensive ticket). I'd say meet up at 6pm (the butler people need time to get tickets) if you want serious go with the butler group, if you want funny go with the worlds end, meet after at 9, go for coffee/tea and compare movies.

    August 22, 2013

    • Ro

      I like that idea Ingrid!

Hi there.. new to the group.. I'm hoping to join everyone, but it depends on what time I get back from a deifferent raod trip. I am not going to take up a spot, but I hope it's ok to perhaps meet some one there? Thanks. I'd like to see either The End or The Butler.. Thanks!

    August 22, 2013

    • Stacey

So far only 4 people have voted on which movie they want to see. The Butler has 2 votes. Click on the link just above this note and vote on your choice of movie. Thanks!

      August 23, 2013

  • Ingrid G.

I find rotten tomatoes is usually right about the movies (since it's everyone's opinion not just one person). The Worlds end has a 96% rating http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_worlds_end/ The Butler is 72% http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/lee_daniels_the_butler/ and The Millers is 44% http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/were_the_millers/ . I'll probable pass on this meet up if it's the Millers because if there's a high chance I wont like it, I'd rather not spend the $17.50. There's always cheap tuesday for movies like that.

    August 22, 2013

    • Stacey

Thanks for adding this Ingrid! Check out the movies playing and then vote people. We will then have an idea of what everyone wants to see.

      August 22, 2013

    • Ingrid G.

One of the reviewers on rotten tomatoes said the world's end is the perfect movie to see at a theatre that serves beer. :) I think cineplex was very smart to to put it into the VIP 18+

      August 23, 2013

  • Stacey

FYI - My intentions for this meet up was simply it was a movie meet up. We would meet at 7pm at the theatre and figure out who wanted to do what then. I didn't plan on reserving anything. That was all I intended for this one. I figured we may end up with a couple smaller groups, and if anyone wanted to go out for coffee or a drink afterward, then so be it. Sometimes the best times in life are off the cuff, I find.

    August 22, 2013

    • Ingrid G.

you might want to meet earlier to give everyone a chance to decide and buy a ticket. Butler is the earliest at 6:30pm.

      August 22, 2013

  • Christie

    My pick...The Butler!

    August 22, 2013

    • Stacey

Its a real toss up for me. That movie does look like it would be good. I still want to see to see 2 Guns though. I may have to go to the theatre a couple times!

If you go to the Cineplex Website and look to see what is confirmed for August 24, the only one for sure is The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones. Underneath the white bar with the date on it on the web page (link below) it says "Showtimes are available for online ticket purchase starting Tuesday evenings for the upcoming week (Fri – Thurs)."

    http://www.cineplex.com/Theatres/TheatreDetails/Cineplex-Odeon-McGillivray-and-VIP-Cinemas.aspx?date%3d2013-8-18

So we should know on Tuesday what is playing for Sat night. Hope this helps,
