Saturday Evening/Night Dog Racing in Wimbledon Stadium

Join us for a Saturday night of Dog Racing at Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium. We've bought 24 hugely discounted tickets for this Greyhound Racing event.

We're providing tickets to members at  cost price  - £4 each (this is what we paid for them). The tickets are worth up to £14 in value.

Included in the price:

• Entrance Fee and Race Card

• Choice of Burger, Cheeseburger or Vegetarian Burger

• Choice of Carling Pint, Bottle of WKD or Large Soft Drink

Please only purchase the tickets if you can definitely attend because we bought these tickets as a great offer for the group.

Note that you must be able to attend this event on time - 6:30 pm at Wimbledon Park Tube Station (Approximately 30 minutes by Underground/Tube train from the very centre of London). After a short wait at the meeting point, we'll then walk approximately 10 minutes to Wimbledon Greyhound Racing Stadium. Only purchase a ticket if you can make it at the meeting point on time. We must go in together as a group. If you are late at the meeting point you will not be able to use this group ticket. This is a great 6,000 capacity stadium.

Please ensure you take my phone number -[masked] (although we will not be able to delay the meeting time for late arrivals). This is a very rare event of ours whereby you must purchase tickets via PayPal. This really is the only way we can minimize no-shows and make sure we don't lose the money we've paid for these tickets.

All payments are to be made online in full if you decide to RSVP (you will be taken to the PayPal payments page after you RSVP). Payments are non-refundable. We can only offer these tickets to adults aged 18 and over.

Please note you do not have to have a paypal account to pay via PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, choose the option to 'pay with a debit or credit card' and fill in your card details, address, email etc as directed by the screen.

Please 'click here' to view an organisers meetup group set-up with instructions and screenshots on how to pay without a Paypal account.

This should be be a really fun night. In the meantime, if you have any queries then please do not hesitate to contact us by email through this website. Just click on my photo (Martyn) and choose the option to send an email.

Kind Regards
Martyn and Terry

Another excellently researched and organised event. £4 for the race programme, a burger and a pint is extreme value (you don't get all that with the Oyster deal)! A great group of people and 'Absent John' did the business in the last race so a number of us finished with a win!

Cheers Terry for paying nearly £100 for the event tickets and selling them at cost price (without even adding your paypal costs).

Everyone said it was still a good offer, despite the fact that Groupon did, unknowingly to us, exaggerate the deal. We'll know for future reference. No-one took up your offer of refunding members the £4 ticket :-) It was still a good offer.

I'll also reply to your comments Damian after your 'name-calling' of John our assistant organiser.

I think John was aggrieved by the fact that you do happen to run your own meetup groups with some similar events. You've never even RSPV'd to any event in 3 years of membership and I can't remember meeting you. Yet you post on this event that we were 'diddled' and should try to get our money back for members by Groupon. Now your presenting it as genuine advice to us. Could you not have emailed me first, so I could have told the group? I'll reserve judgement and let people make their own minds if they read your comments.

I would like to join you, but we are 3 people.
Is there any chance to get 2 more tickets?
    Thanks ;)

Hi Jose, unfortunately we don't have any more tickets. We are really at capacity for this meetup too. We try to mix the size of our events and this was deliberately a smaller event (members prefer it when we run different sized events). Also it wouldn't be fair to just invite you long as some people have been on the waiting list for over a week, I hope you can understand our position and that you can make a future event instead. Kind regards, Martyn

Not feeling v well. Better to give my place to a waiting lidt person (instead of bringing my cold + making 23 others unwell :^(.

Hi Damian, I bought these tickets via Groupon as it was a good offer for the group and I really wanted to go. The tickets cost £4 each (in actual fact they had to be bought in pairs of 2 for £8, but it works out the same price) I paid £96 for them (24 x £4). We sold them at cost price £4 each. In actual fact I make a small loss via PayPal fees (but I thought it would make it look mean of me to sell these tickets with a few pence extra PayPal costs). This event is a bargain - there's no Meetup charge or group membership and the burger and pint for example would cost around £8. The only issue we are now aware of is the offer for those with Oyster cards. Firstly, people attend Wimbledon dogs from all over the UK and sometimes don't even have to go into London as its the end of the line. So many won't have Oyster cards. However, I accept that 80% of Londoners will have oysters, so we are now aware they could get in for free with an Oyster card. I'll refund people if they feel mislead.

      Terry,
I live close and have Done the dogs several times with a similar deal to the one you are offering, it is good value and I also had no idea of the oyster deal, as you say would be surprised I'd that included burger and drink! Enough debate ...burger, drinks , night out I think! Cheers

£4 for fast-food, swift pint, F1-speed hounds I can bet on? What's not to snap-up?! WELL DONE MARTYN - SPLENDID DEAL ANY DAY, ANY PLACE, EVERY TIME! (& thank you for not adding the Paypal fees, but now you've told us don't expect to leave sober after all the drinks we'll be buying you :o).

The irony doesn't escape me Martyn, dog racing where there is little or no regard for the dogs welfare during and after their racing days are over (thousands disappear and we can guess what happens to them) and vegetarian burgers being sold!!

    August 5, 2013

    • Pri P.

Yes David as Martyn has already stated the event is going ahead so no need to fret!
And thanks to Martyn for being emphatic to the situation and for being sensitive and open to the fact that the industry as a whole continues to have welfare concerns, good for you Martyn :)

Really don't want to get into a pointless conversation on this but I come to Meetup for fun and entertainment , don't think this group is really the right forum for political / rights beliefs?

I will be getting a bus to the stadium from tooting.... Can I meet you outside main entrance?

    August 8, 2013

    • Martyn L.

Hi David, for this event it is important that members can make it outside Wimbledon Park Tube Station at 6:30pm (as stated). We are usually quite flexible, but there'll be up to 6,000 people at the stadium and from past experience we know that it can be difficult to find people in large crowds near the stadium at such events. I hope that won't affect your plans and you can understand our situation. kind regards, martyn

Hi, this sounds like a nice unique event, my 14 year old is also interested. Are children allowed?

    August 1, 2013

    • Martyn L.

Hi Rose, unfortunately this event it is only for over-18's. We should have made the age-restriction clearer, so my apologies for that (we've now amended the description). However, we do run events where teenagers would be very welcome - picnics, guided walks and afternoon museum/gallery events. Just keep a look out and I'm sure you'll find something suitable. kind regards, Martyn
