Join us for a Saturday visit to the official British Museum. This is a museum of human history and culture. Its collections, which number more than eight million works and objects, are amongst the largest in the world and originate from all continents.
The main purpose of the museum is to illustrate and document the story of the world's human culture, from its beginnings to the present.
The museum has free entry. Please note that this is a general visit to the permanent exhibitions, rather than a verbal guided tour. We visited this museum last year. It is so large that we only visited the ground-floor, first-floor and second-floor. Therefore, on this occasion we will only be visiting the third, fourth and fifth floors. These floors contain exhibitions on ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt. They also contain exhibitions on Europe, the Middle East and Japan. In addition there are general 'theme' exhibitions on 'clocks', 'watches' and 'money'. Some of these are continuing exhibitions from those on the lower floors that we viewed on our previous visit.
We will meet outside the main entrance at 1.30pm (organisers will have a meetup sign). Once inside, members can either stay with our group or explore the museum by themselves. To visit the official website of the British Museum please click here.
At 3.15pm we will meet once again outside the main entrance and then members have the option of joining us at a nearby local bar/pub for drinks and a chat.
Finally, if you have any queries then please do not hesitate to contact us by email through this website. Just click on my photo (Martyn) and choose the option to send an email.
