Friday 'Late' at the Victoria and Albert Museum (13th June)

Join us for a 'Friday-Late-Night' opening at The Victoria and Albert Museum. The V & A officially claims to be 'The World's Greatest Museum of Art and Design'. The collections certainly do appear to be unrivaled in their scope and diversity.

The museum holds 3000 years worth of amazing artefacts from many of the world's richest cultures including ceramics, furniture, fashion, glass, jewellery, metalwork, photographs, sculpture, textiles and paintings.

On our visit, the museum has free entry and is open until 10.00pm (we'll be staying until 9pm). We will meet outside the main entrance at 7:30 pm and I will be holding a Meetup sign. Once inside, members can either stay with our group or explore the museum by themselves. Please note that this is a general visit to the permanent exhibitions rather than a guided tour.

The closest tube station to the museum is South Kensington (a 5-10 minute walk).  If you are coming from this tube station you should take the underground tunnel and follow the directions to the Museums. However, please note that on rare occasions the tunnel can close at late notice (this will mean members will have to walk to the museum at ground level)

At exactly 9.00pm we will meet outside the main entrance again and then members have the option of joining us at a nearby bar/pub for drinks and a chat.

Finally, at the time of last updating this Meetup page, we have a waiting list for this event. For most members, the waiting list system is very straightforward. However, we do appreciate that members new to can sometimes require clarification on how the waiting list works. Therefore, members can 'click here' to read a very brief summary we have written to explain how the waiting list works.

In the meantime, if you have any queries then please do not hesitate to contact us by email through this website (click on my name, Martyn, and just choose the option to send an email).

kind regards
Martyn and Terry

I am so sorry I forgot to mention in my profile that I am the foremost authority in museum jokes. To compensate somewhat for my glaring omission and as a gesture of good will, here’s an example of my most recent work:

Q: What did King Tut say to the museum?
    A: I want my mummy!

Hope the organisers can forgive my oversight and I promise to update my profile as soon as possible.
