Hi Annelie! If you like Slams I can point you towards them. The SF Slam is 2nd Sundays (next one this week) at The Luggage Store Gallery at 6th & Market. I run the Oakland Slam, which is very close to BART in downtown Oakland (1/2 a block from the Oakland Museum, in a safe neighborhood).
