MEET in I-Hop parking lot, Ray Road and I-10, 12:00 noon
Elev change: 4,000’ to summit
A “sky island” in the Coronado National Forest 170 miles south of Phoenix. A noon departure on Friday for time to arrive and backpack to Josephine Saddle, elevation 7080. Saturday we will hike around and up to the summit elevation 9453. Return to Madera Canyon Roundup trailhead by the same or alternate route. Options abound, including an improved campsite near the trailhead and even resorts with cabins for rent for day hikers and many hiking trails for all levels. Madera Canyon is a world famous birding destination if all you want to do is enjoy the fauna!
