MEET in Albertson’s parking lot, 1-17 and Carefree Highway, 12:00 noon

Elev gain: 4,600’ (see below)
The pinnacle of Arizona hiking is in the Coconino National Forest 120 miles north of Phoenix just north of Flagstaff.

 A noon departure on Friday is planned to allow for time to arrive and set up our car camp in the cool pines. Saturday morning we’ll ascend Humphreys Peak via the Weatherford trail, descending to tree line for our backpacking camp that night.

Sunday: return either via Humphreys and Kachina trails or retracing the ascent route. Car campers and day hikers are welcome. The summer solstice means lots of daylight for hiking or anything else you want to do in the cool outdoors.
Hiking elevation gain 4600 feet from Schultz Pass to Humphreys Peak. Distance to summit from Weatherford trailhead to summit 11 miles one way.

If you are not current on your $15 annual friends Hiking Club membership the hike is $5.00.

Remember ca$h for carpool contribution and optional after-hike replentishment.
