NATIONAL TRAIL TREK - South Mountain Park Day Hike Saturday, December 19th Leader: Randy Baker ([masked]) Length: 14 miles (
or less* ) Phone: [masked] Rating: Moderate Elevation Change: +/- 1000’
We will meet near the park Saturday at 7:30 AM - You must PHONE the hike leader BEFORE WED. DEC 16th to RSVP and confirm the meeting place. Also confirm if you are not doing the full distance.
Don't be a 'flake'..... please clear your schedule BEFORE you RSVP 'yes' and honor your commitment. Starting from the east end of the National Trail at the Marcos De Niza Trailhead parking area, we will hike 7 miles west to the Telegraph Pass Trail junction. Here we will stop for lunch. Then we will continue west in solitude for an additional 7 miles to the LAVEEN AREA trailhead and our shuttle vehicles.
Shorter distance option: Hikers who prefer a shorter distance are welcome to join us and hike as far as they like, then return to the starting trailhead.
AGAIN, LET THE HIKE LEADER KNOW IF YOU ARE NOT DOING THE THE FULL DISTANCE, SO WE KNOW HOW MANY SHUTTLE CARS TO PLAN FOR. Along the way we will see Native American pictographs, historic ruins and great city views. Be sure to bring water and lunch.
After the hike and shuttle, we may 'partake' at a nearby watering hole.
Please note: Several volunteer shuttle drivers are needed for this hike to work as intended - please volunteer.
