So if you have had just about enough of the summer heat, did not get away for the Labor Day weekend and would like to have four, crisp nice days on the North Rim, then join us. This is a loose and relaxed weekend with no special itinerary. Possibilities
are endless. We can enter the park and hike the Widforss Trail which is a nice 10 mile roundtrip hike out to the rim, or you can drive your 4 wheel drive, high clearance vehicle 18 miles out to Point Sublime and have your lunch, or you can drive to Point Royal and enjoy a sunset. You can take an easy 4 mile roundtrip saunter to Cape Final and sit on the ledge and view the canyon. There are also numerous other day hikes and I will provide those interested with a printed list and brief description.
Also in the National Forest there are numerous view points such as Locust Point, Timp Point and others within a few miles drive and you can hike along the rim on sections of the Rim Trail. In the evening join the friendship and camaraderie around the fire. It is the weekend of the new moon so the night sky will be awash with stars.
So come on up and have some fun!
