VULTURE PEAK - near Wickenburg

Sat, Mar 15

• Leader:  Rich Flammang  ([masked])

•  Length:  4 miles R/T

• Phone: [masked]

• Rating:  Moderate

•  MEET in Denny's parking lot (just SOUTH of the Denny's building),

SE corner of I-17 and Bell Road, 7:00 am

• Elev Change:  1,000 ft

• The 3,600-foot-high peak is located in the desert south of Wickenburg.  A trail leads to a high saddle with views of the surrounding area. From the saddle, it's a tough scramble to the summit itself (optional).  The Vulture Mountains are named for Henry Wickenburg's Vulture Mine, one of the richest gold mines in Arizona history.  Length and elevation change are to the saddle, additional 250 foot elevation change to the summit.

Afterwards, we will be BBQ'ing at the trailhead - bring a chair, beverage & something to burn!

To take advantage of our fantastic weather and not be cooped-up in a restaurant after this hike, we have decided to remain after the hike for a little BBQ.
Please bring something to burn, a cool beverage and a chair!

Now that the date has changed, I can go. Hopefully, someone can hook me up with a ride from the meeting location.
