South Mountain Full-Moon hike

  • Sep 29, 2012 · 2:45 AM

Saturday, September 29th
Leader: Randy Baker

Length: +/- 7.3 miles, or.......

Elevation change: 1,600’

Rating: Easy ++

MEET at the South Mtn Park Educational Center, 10919 S. Central Ave - Phoenix

If you are not current on your $15 annual membership, the hike is $5.00

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's Night Hiking.
When you hike up the trail with a dust storm on your tail, you’re in South Mountain.
When you act like a fool, thinking you’re real cool, and want to stay out all night, it’ll be all right.
Because before done with the night, we’ll stop for a bite; after a wee bit of wine, all will be fine!

Starting on the Holbert Trail, we will climb to the National Trail, passing numerous petroglyphs along the way. From there we will head west below the towers to Telegraph Pass and the Kiwanis Trail. Descending to the Box Canyon Trail, we’ll turn east back to our vehicles, for a 7.3 mile loop. After the adventure, the survivors will go to a nearby pub for food and refreshments.
Note: Be sure to bring plenty of water, and a good, working flashlight or headlight, as we are starting a bit later in the year so to enjoy the moonlight serenade.

If attending, please RSVP BY PHONE with the hike leader

before Sept 27 -

Randy will give you the start is NOT 2:45AM

Space may be limited on this popular annual hike.
