HALLOWEEN HIKE ‘N BALL - Jerome
Sat - Sun, Oct 27 - 28
Leader: Randy Baker
Length: +/- 6 miles
Rating: Moderately Spooky!
Elev Change: 1,600’
This hike uses trails on top of the nearly 8,000 foot summit of Mingus Mountain. Highlights include sweeping views of the Verde Valley, the Verde Rim, and the Mogollon Rim. The entire sweep of the Verde Valley lies before you with the Mogollon Rim as a backdrop. Be sure to bring your camera for the views will be great.
After setting up camp, in the evening, we will adorn costumes (optional; as some members are naturally ghoulish) and ramble down to the Ghost Town Jerome for a Halloween Ball. For more than three decades, the costume ball has been a fundraiser for the town’s fire department. The Halloween Dance Party begins at 8PM and ends at 1AM in Spook Hall. It includes a full cash bar and a costume contest with different categories that vary from year to year. Jerome businesses donate prizes for the winners, including dinners, overnights and gift certificates.
Tickets are $10 at the door.
