SUNRISE TRAIL - McDowell Sonoran Preserve

Saturday, January 26th
Leader: Chris Horan ([masked])

Length: 4.5 miles R/T

Rating: Easy with a couple of moderate sections
MEET at the Lost Dog Trailhead at the north end of 124thStreet off Shea Blvd, 7:00 AM

Elev Change: 1,300 ft
We will need to coordinate some shuttle cars before we start the hike - be prompt.

Sunrise Trail is a shaded gradual ascent beginning with a brief walk
along Lost Dog Trail leading to a left turn onto Sunrise Trail. There are intersections with Anasazi Spur and Ringtail Trail, but keep going
straight toward the mountain lies ahead. Shortly after passing the Ringtail Trail, take a moment to turn around and look back. You begin to
see the peaks of McDowell Mountain, Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak. We will pass a hitching post, and head down the other side
to an access point where the shuttle cars will be parked.

A big 'thanks' to Chris for heading up this wonderful hike - yes it did drizzle most of the time, but the trail was empty but for us and the low clouds made for some remarkable views. All of you 'no-shows' missed a great hike and a nice after-hike gathering @ Four Peaks-Scottsdale.
