Friends board meeting for April

Dear Friends,

The Friends of MSSF recognizes the unique nature of Myles Standish State Forest and strive to protect and preserve it. The 15,000 acres of ecologically important pine barren forest is home to an undeveloped four-acre coastal plain pond, rare species of vegetation and wildlife which are listed as threatened or endangered, and serves as a breeding ground for many of these endangered species. Located in Plymouth and Carver it sits above the 500 billion Plymouth-Carver Sole Source Aquifer.

This unique location offers a wide variety of outdoor activities and needs your support to ensure its protection for future generations. We invite you to join the Friends in our efforts to preserve this unique forest. We are appealing to all of you to consider volunteering your time and experience to the Friends Board. The FMSSF is a diverse group representing a large variety of user groups of the forest.  It initiates and supports various activities designed to protect, promote, and conserve the natural, scenic, and historic resources of Myles Standish State Forest.

The Board of Directors meets at 7PM on the first Wednesday of each month to plan the various events throughout the year. With the Department of Conservation and Recreation, we co-sponsor Park Serve Day, an Annual Woodcock Walk, and a Fishing Derby.

Current Positions (to be filled during the spring elections):

2014/2016 Elected Positions:

•  Nomination Committee

There are always many other ways to support the Friends.

If you are interested in participating or would like to see what’s involved, you are welcome to attend the Friends’ meetings, which are always open to the public.  You can also contact a current officer to find out more information.

We thank you and hope you seriously consider our appeal to volunteer! If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please contact:
