Do you enjoy a variety of non-competitive outdoor activities with a group of amazing people? Then this is the group for you! Members participate in a variety of WEEKEND outdoor activities - from easy/moderate hikes and road biking, to non-technical mountain biking and snowshoeing. Our activities don't stop because of the weather - we're out on the trails in 8 degree weather and snow as well as 90 degrees and sun, and everything in between!
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 21 in the Colorado Springs area who is single (or your spouse/partner doesn't like to hike so you usually go it alone). We do ask that you be in proper physical condition to be able to participate in hikes ranging from 500 - 1,500 feet elevation gain and an average of 4 to 8 miles in length.
Group sizes for activities will be kept small - no more than 8 people on a trail, both to minimize damage to the environment and to make it an enjoyable experience. We only have one rule - if you sign up, show up. Repeated no-shows will result in being removed from the group, without warning or discussion. Dropping out 24 hours or less before we are scheduled to meet, or changing your RSVP to "No" after the RSVP list is closed WILL be counted as a no-show. That type of disrespect to the event host and other members will not be tolerated. OK, there's another rule - you must enjoy yourselves!
As of January 11, 2014 we do require you to post a recent photo of your face so we can recognize you when you attend activities - if you choose not to do so, keep in mind that your membership application will be rejected. If you joined prior to that date, and chose not to post a photo, YOU will need to find US, and it's not an excuse for no-showing. Also, please use your real first name and last initial as your profile name so we know that you're a real person and to help us know who the members are.
MEMBERSHIP IN ANY MEETUP GROUP IS VOLUNTARY AND IS AT THE ORGANIZERS' DISCRETION. THE GROUP ORGANIZER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DENY MEMBERSHIP TO ANYONE WITHOUT CAUSE, AND TO REMOVE MEMBERS WHO DO NOT FIT THE SPIRIT OF THE GROUP.
When Meetup members sign up and accept the Meetup Terms of Service, they are agreeing to the Release found in Section 6.2: This Release basically states that members attend events at their own risk, and release The Organizers, the assistant organizers and Meetup from any claims that may result in injury or death.
