Swapping begins promptly at 1:00 pm
________ Entry is Free

I have a team of people in place that will help me arrange all of the items on tables and clothing racks. If you would like to be a volunteer, please contact Cathy Knowles or Dianna Moy, our new co- volunteer coordinator. After the leadership team, there will be spots available to volunteer (7 for the military swap) and it is on a first come, first serve basis. Volunteers do not need to be affiliated witht the military.

This is not just a swap - it is part of a larger effort for veterans run by "Vet Group" and "All Media Linked" which is a veterans outreach program that we have been invited to join!

The program is called "WE HEART VETS"

We Heart Vets is an immense demonstration of Love, Celebrating Veterans the last Saturday every other month w/ Feast, Festival & Opportunities!  Help us continue an elaborate show of support to Veterans with your contribution of revenue, gifts, opportunities, goods &  services. We Heart Vets is an outreach program that provides support, educational services, and career services to Veterans and their families. For the majority of the veteran population, the effect of active military service can be profound and long-lasting. So much so, many veterans  have found it difficult to adjust to “normal life” again.

There are veterans whose resources have become inadequate and insufficient to simply meet basic needs. There are also others who are abandoned and unrecognized by their family members and  those who can receive life changing benefits from training, certification & career resources. Not to mention the benefits of encouragement, motivation & optimism!

It is in these cases that a hand from organizations, community groups, personalities and individuals will cause our service men and women to thrive. The veterans need and deserve all the support they can garner. After all, they have contributed much to the establishment of a safe, stable USA. The We Heart Vets program and event partners provide the following resources for veterans and their families:

* Workforce development training

* Referrals to organizations that provide services

* Employment opportunities

* Goods, Services, Product & Entertainment to enhance the We Heart Vets events.

 We Heart Vets is a program created by All Media Linked, Inc. and its community partner, Global Community Enrichment Foundation, Inc., an organization that provides outreach programming and support services that focus on motivation, prevention, and wellness.

    Although we were welcomed with open arms, the space was not set up to accommodate so many different things going on. We didn't have the room or table space that we required. There were too few attendees, most didn't even know they were supposed to bring clothing to swap. They had good food and good things for the vets - it just didn't seem as if they were prepared for us or that we really fit in to this sort of event. Everyone was nice - and welcoming...It was just a very awkward setup. In the future, we will welcome We Heart Vets to join us at our venue rather than us join them at this location. We did make some good contacts- especially Paul Mitchel who may be showing up at an event in the fall.Most of the Frugal Fashionistas got makeovers - Hair and makeup so that was pretty great. We're told that they will try to get us food donations for some of our upcoming swaps. It just could have gone so much better if properly planned and promoted.

    I'm out of town and was planning on being back by now, but due to delays, it looks like I won't be able to make it to this. I'm so disappointed since I was really looking forward to it. I hope that they offer this same type of event again in the future! Happy swapping to all!

    I have a last minute doctor's appointment (not feeling well). I should still be able to make it but I'll be running a teeny bit late. See you all soon.

    If you get to the swap at noon to drop off your clothing, the doors will probably still be locked but they plan on having someone at the door to let you in. If there is no one there, please call KEYVI at[masked]-0656. If for some reason he doesn't answer, there should be am office number posted on the door and if ALL ELSE FAILS, call my husband Stephen -[masked]-9708. This swap is going to be a strange one with major logistics changing at the last minute so please keep an open mind, It will NOT be like any swap we've had before - we're just trying to see if we can help out - time will tell. Member entry is free but bring a few dollars for the raffle prizes. I have some great patriotic items up for raffle as well as a few other normal type frugal fashionista raffles. (jewelry, gift baskets, etc) Raffle prizes for FFCS items will be $1.00 as usual THERE WILL BE 3 PLACES WHO ARE DONATING FOOD! . I do apologize in advance about the changes that were made as late as yesterdat by AML.

      If you are a First Time Swapper - please know that this is NOT the way we normally hold our swaps, so although we hope it will be great for all, it may be much different than a normal swap. Just keep that in mind please.

  • Kim - Clothing Swap F.

    This is our first participation with this program and no one really knows what to expect. Lots of male vets? Female vets? Are they bringing spouses? Will they be swapping clothing? Buying from vendors? NO ONE KNOWS yet... please be patient with us as we learn how we will fit into this new and wonderful cause!

    No, I am not asking to attend. But I am offering to provide our mobile wireless hotspot for the duration, pro bono, in support. Please contact me on[masked] at Replikon Research by way of Google Voice to discuss this. We may, depending on the site, deliver up to 20 Mb/sec through the hotspot, which all attending may enjoy through our relays, distributed in advance.

      I can be a vendor while the hotspot runs; the Other Business Activity ... is cutting hair, everything from the full body depilation and hydrotherapy to what I propose for this event: Let's Get Flow-Bee'd!

    An excellent way to help out our service members. I am not "military-related" so I won't be there but kudos to all that pulled this together.
