Welcome to the Land of Science-based Development

This month, we're back to our normal talk schedule. First, Olivier Lacan (web, github, twitter) of Code School will talk about how to apply the Scientific Method to programming. He believes development is a lot like science and controlling all the variables can be difficult. He'll employ the Scientific Method to building software.

Later, Solomon White (github, twitter) will take you on an adventure to the Land of D3, where we will explore the core concepts of the library and how to use it to make basic visualizations.

Delicious food and craft beers, as usual.

Schedule:

6:00 - Doors open
6:30 - Science-based Development - Olivier Lacan
7:00 - Discussion and coding
7:30 - Land of D3 - Solomon White
8:00 - Discussion and coding
9:00 - Doors close

The best place to park is at the Cherry Creek Mall on the opposite side of 1st Ave. There's also street parking all around Cherry Creek.

Enter the building along Fillmore St and take the elevator to the 4th floor.

Thanks for coming out and listening to my talk everyone! I put my presentation up at https://github.com/rubysolo/land_of_d3. Also, during the discussion, I had mentioned a blog article about using D3 to create your UI -- that's here: http://macwright.org/2013/07/07/d3-for-html.html

As usual, the meetup sounds good enough to warrant coming down from Boulder. I'm looking forward to it!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
