4/9/14 Women's Weekly Workout Hike. 6-11 miles/700'-2,000, moderate pace

  • Apr 9, 2014 · 8:00 AM

The Women’s Weekly Workout (WWW) hikes are for those who share equally in making this group happen. Sign up only if you’re willing to host for 1-2 months per year.

Newcomers welcome. No need to know trails. We prefer not knowing them, so we’ll do something new.

We all help with route finding as a team, and eventually we'll cover all trails in our hike areas.

Our adventures will suit you if you enjoy trying new routes, and are open to anything. If there's a choice--take the trail we know the least, and never repeat a hike for at least a year.

Let's explore, be courageous, have fun!

Trailblazing, Bushwhacking, Exploratory: Leader's choice, won't know until we get there, be prepared for anything.

Terrain can include: single track, fireroad, creek crossings, steep/rocky/slippery/very brushy trails.

Don't sign up if you've been a "no show" at any Meetup. Directions will not be sent to "no shows."

Please, no guests. You must be signed up at Fun in the Sun Club Meetup, thereby agreeing to Meetup's Release of Liability.

Start Time: Arrive earlier. It's a good idea to aim for 7:45AM so if you get lost or there's traffic, you'll still be on time. We leave when everyone arrives and wait until 8:00AM at the latest.

Meeting Place: Will be sent to participants by day before hike.

Estimated Time on Trail: We usually finish before 1:00PM.

Pace: Moderate, because now we take more breaks. We do new routes so we take the time to survey, explore, and admire vistas. Overall average usually 2.0mph-2.5mph.

Bring: Be prepared with snacks for a 12 mile/2,000' hike (even although we may do less), the 10 essentials, including plenty water (3L+ recommended), first aid kit, sunscreen, gloves for bushwhacking/class 3 scrambles, trekking poles if you like using them.

Wear: Layers, hat, sunglasses, your best lug soles, long sleeves, pants for brush protection.

Dogs: Sorry, no dogs for this one. Some areas don't allow them.

Leave nothing of value in your vehicle at any trailhead.
