Resolution Independence

Let's get down with some silky smooth vector sexiness. October 11th we are going to discuss ways to break free of the pixel and become resolution independent. I'll share some approaches for using SVG graphics in your site and we'll finish off the meeting by creating our own icon font. Have you seen the web on a retina display? It looks like crap. Let's fix this. Sign up now and we'll see you on the 11th.

Thanks for a very cool presentation. Eye-opening stuff; going to geek out on a bunch of that stuff today. I had to leave early to meet some people for the Veep debate, but hopefully I can chat with some of you at the next meeting or at Indieconf next month... Also: those cupcakes were incredible.

Had to leave early, but be sure to check out the IcoMoon App (http://icomoon.io/), which is super easy to use. Just save out SVG glyphs for each icon, import the directory to IcoMoon, set characters for each icon and download!

    Hi everyone!

I typed up my notes from tonight’s presentation, which you can freely download here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1109952...

At the bottom of the file I mention the Unicode reference that was invaluable to me for a work project optimizing Arabic & Hebrew bitmap fonts for Motorola iDEN (it’s a more boring story than it sounds): http://decodeunicode.org/

One of my favorite discoveries: a snowman http://decodeunicode.org/w3.php...

There’s even a 1.17m x 1.75m poster, featuring the 51,980 graphic characters of the Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP): http://decodeunicode.org/en/bmp...

Another tool for making your own icon font, or at least selecting specific glyphs of existing fonts to reduce download size is http://fontello.com
