CANCELED City Park Jazz with Jakarta -

To continue our Funk Weeend, let's head over to City Park to listen and dance to Jakarta.

The band performs from 6-8pm at the Bandstand/Pavillion in Denver's City Park. We'll meet at 4:30 pm to get a decent spot for the group on the left side of the Bandstand when facing the Bandstand. Bring a blanket, a lawn chair or blanket and a snack to share, if you'd like.

This rocking' rhythm and blues band is comprised of the musical stylings of Tom Sandquist, Robert Johnson, Robby Chamberlain, and Bob Rebholtz. Featuring Isaac Points on vocals, Jakarta creates the groove that gets people on the dance floor. Whether Isaac is opening for Stanley Clark and Herbie Hancock, playing bass with Chuck Berry or Tony Bennett, performing USO tours with Joe Clemons, signing with the Platters, or playing amusement parks with Tom Slick and Jinx Jones, Isaac's expertise of funk has been proven time and time again.

My wife and I went. They ROCKED! They played non-stop from 6 to about 8:15. Very light sprinkles at about 7:30, but that only lasted a few minutes. Great concert!

It figures. Just didn't want to risk it with a group when we were expecting heavy rain.

Kris, I am going to have to wimp out on this one. Too much rain and lighting for me!! I will be going to several other shows of City Park Jazz, just jump over to the Denver Jazz, Blues and Beyond Meetup group and you and other members of this group can join me.

Hey everyone, the forcast isn't looking to great for this event. Heavy Rain starts at 4:00 and 6:00 is when the flash flood warnings are predicted. City park is rain or shine, but not much cover except for the pavillion. I'll make a final decision at 3:00 and will send all my RSVP-YES' an email with my phone # shortly so you can send me a text later today. If we end up having to reschedule this, we will reschedule for August 5th with Chris Daniels and the Kings.
