Walk the Brooklyn Bridge and Kayaking

Whether you have grown up in NY, or just moved here, this is one of those things you just have to do while here.  Being one of the iconic symbols of NYC, it's time for us to see it up close in all its beauty.  We are going to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.  Once we have done this, we will do some kayaking on the Hudson River, with the Brooklyn Bridge as our backdrop.  Here is how the day will go:

We are going to gather at Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club.  There are amazing views of the bridge from here, so we can take pics, gather, and make introductions.  Then we will head to the Brooklyn Bridge.  We will be heading from Manhattan into Dumbo, Brooklyn.  It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk over without stopping, so with stopping and taking pics, assume 40-60 minutes.

Once we reach Dumbo, we will head over to the Brooklyn Bridge Park.  This is where we will be kayaking.  The kayaking is in a large, semi-enclosed area, so no experience with kayaking is required.  They provide all the equipment and life jackets.  There are no lockers, so pack light, and wear clothes that you wouldn't mind getting a little wet.

After everyone has had a chance to kayak, then we will head over to Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for a little slice of heaven.  This place is known to be one of the best ice cream places around, in a beautiful historic building, in a perfect location.  This place is cash only, so plan accordingly.

If you only want to walk the bridge, feel free to join us, and stay as long as you want after (you don't have to kayak).  If you want to only kayak, feel free to meet us at the Boathouse at Pier 1 in the Brooklyn Bridge Park around 1-1:30pm.

This is going to be a great day out.  I hope you'll join me!
