I talked to my roommate about this, and we came to an interesting conclusion. The reason we feel better at a Meet is acceptance. Being with a group of furries is the only time in my life that I feel completely accepted, no matter who or what I am. A lot of us are gay, some of us are bi, I think there's even one or two that are straight (I could be wrong though)... and there's probably a few that would qualify as "other". And you know what? Nobody CARES. The same works for species. I'm a wolf. I was a wolf before I admitted to being furry. I've meet folfs, dragons, dinosaurs, wolves, more wolves, oh there's another wolf, some cats, even a skunk and a raccoon. And none of it matters. When someone asks me what species I am, I don't feel like they're cataloging me, or categorizing, or deciding where I fit in... It's because they want to know ME. I don't have a suit yet, and that's fine. Some people do have suits, and that's fine. Some people have really awesome semi-realistic suits, and that's fine. Some people have outrageous and/or comical cartoony suits, and that's fine. No matter who or what you are, no matter who or what I am, nobody judges each other, nobody splits up into cliques, etc. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. The point is, when I go to a fur meet, I am the most comfortable and have the most fun I ever have in my life, and I'm very grateful to have found this group.
