Tips for a written reference sheet for commissions?

Since I want to see if I can get some commissions of my fursona (but lack an actual reference sheet) I've written a description of my character as detailed as I can think of, I might've left something out but I'm wondering if any (artists maybe) could critique my description and make suggestions as what I should add in to make it easier to use.

Here's what I have so far:

Wake The Shark Description Sheet for Commissions

Height: 5'11

Hair: long blonde hair, (if you catch a good glimpse of my IRL hairstyle you'll have a good sense of how it looks)

Eye color: blue eyes

Skin color: grey and white

Body Structure: tall and lean

Skin design: Over all the theme goes, front half of my body will be white and the other half is grey, however in certain areas it adjusts for obvious reasons, grey will follow onto the tail but the tail will be white under it, for my head, white will cover the jaw and front of my neck, and grey will cover the rest of my face and head.

Species: Great White Shark

Attire: Grey T-shirt, pink bandana around the neck, pink belt, and grey cargo pants

Misc: My snout is pointed

When it comes to skin/fur patterns, any drawing, even a really really simple one, is way more helpful than any text descriptions. I recommend making simple drawing of your character with the color patterns. It doesn't matter you don't have artistic talent. Some artists also make free templates that you can use, it might be tough to find one for a shark though.

For any kind of skin pattern, especially simple ones, it's best to be as descriptive as possible if you dun wanna (or didn't know about) templates. If you're lucky, you'll find an artist that takes that design and makes it amazing, like I did with Springdragon. So when you feel like you've been nit-picky and too descriptive, you'll be in great territory.

There is that whole "artist interpretation" though, so if you truly are suuuper picky about the design, just ask to be as up-to-date as possible, so you can guide them through as they do it. Maybe ask them to stream for you so you can watch as they draw? Otherwise the description looks good, just know that for written ones, it's all about description, you gotta be as specific as possible, so it doesn't get misinterpreted.

Your first commission needs to be a ref sheet. Most artists will NOT take a job if it's by description. They will demant a ref, or charge you though the nose for all the extra work they will have to do.

When an artist does a ref sheet, they will expect alot of back and forth and re-dos. Find an artist you feel would help define your character and buy a ref. First thing.

It's a must have.

Really? Charging extra without a ref sheet? I've never heard of that happening before. That's kind of a lame thing to do =\

I would love to get some ref sheets done, perhaps with input on making things look better. I've got 1, but it's not quite perfect, and I can't afford to hire someone to work with me to make him look perfect.....

But if anyone cares, my ref sheet is at http://www.furaffinit...

If you have any advice, please feel free to email me };=8Þ

As for advice on a written description, I agree that too much information can be daunting, but not enough leads to "artistic license" which might not get you what you're looking for. I don't know about feeling nit-picky being a good thing, though.....
