Free movie at Stone Creek Inn, 140 East 27th St (between Lex and 3rd Ave)  tomorrow (Monday) evening, 7 pm.  Monty Python Lives!  Or should I say Monty Python's Life of Brian Lives! even as Spamalot continues on Broadway.  I should have sent a message to them earlier.

Susan Jacoby will be discussing with us her new NY Times bestseller, The Age of American Unreason, which examines anti-intellectualism and anti-rationalism in contemporary America. This book has been characterized as "one of the most eye-opening books I've read in a long time" by the editor-in-chief emerita of the New England Journal of Medicine. "Analytic verve and deep historical knowledge," "delivers a magnificent, occasionally hilarious kick in the pants," say historians.

Prior to this NY Times best seller, Jacoby published 7 other books, including Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism, named a Notable Book of 2004 by the Washington Post and the Times Literary Supplement.

Transhumanist meetup members are all welcome.  This event is free; no registration, membership, or fee required. (Voluntary contributions accepted but no one follows you around until you give them money.)  Book signing available.

7 pm, Thursday evening, March 20, in Manhattan at SLC Conference Center, 352 Seventh Ave., (30th St.) - 16th floor.

Come join us for an interesting evening about an important issue.  (Event sponsored by the Secular Humanist Society of New York. SHSNY.org)

A summary of the book for those too swamped to read it before the talk is available by e-mailing [address removed]
