Glassblowing Workshop

Join us Monday, May 19th for a unique experience!  Decatur Glassblowing Studio will be hosting a private glassblowing class for C.R.A.P. members!  During a two-hour session you will learn how to shape molten glass into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!

The experience includes:

• Tour of the studio with a brief history of the art of glassblowing.

• Demonstration by one of Decatur Glassblowing Studio's experts.

• 2-hour Glassblowing class where students will learn to shape molten glass into their very own ornament or paperweight.

• A glass of wine and light appetizers.

• Bragging rights as a glass-blowing expert... okay, maybe not an expert but you'll have a really cool new hobby to tell friends about!

Important Note: We need to pay the studio in advance to secure the evening, so no refunds will be issued if you cannot make the class.  You can however sell your spot to another meetup member.

Hey Guys- there are still some pieces that have not been picked up yet. Give Nathan a call and get your prized glass, he is there most of the time! If you don't want it, I can always give it to some seniors at the assisted living Molly and I visit- just let me know.

Great fun! Nate and John are very patient teachers! And the CRAP folks are a great group. I'm going by Tuesday evening and am glad to pick up anyone's pieces for them. I work in Buckhead and could coordinate getting them to you if that's more convenient for you. Let me know.

No problem traffic is awful! I should be there right at 7:00- anyone who beats me there. Go on in and tell the owner Nate you're with the meetup class tonight!

I'm still in traffic. I'll be a few minutes late, too.

I am definitely planning to schedule another one of this this fall!

I was wondering whether it would be okay to wear shorts and checked out their website. I came across this reference as to what to wear: "We advise every student to wear comfortable and protective clothing like jeans, t-shirt, and closed toe shoes (no synthetic material please). " I guess molten glass is pretty warm so that makes perfect sense.

      Thanks for checking that Alan!

Looking forward to the glassblowing event on the 19th! Nate at Decatur Glass is bringing in a second teacher to accommodate our group. 10 people will make an ornament and 10 people will make a paperweight! I will send out my cell phone number and a final reminder a few days before the event date!

Sarah, I have a work commitment that is going to keep me late and I won't be able to get there in time. I've prepaid. Whoever you select can take me spot for free. Enjoy:)

  • joan

    When/how do we pay sarah?

    May 13

    • Sarah

Hey Joan! It looks like we're full at 20 people and you're on the waitlist - if someone needs to sell before then you can 'buy' their slot and pay them directly.

      May 13

    • Sarah

Unfortunately we're limited to 20 people with the size of the studio:( There's such a great response though- I'll see if we can do another date later in the year so if you're wait listed for this one- stay tuned!

      May 13

  • Cheryl

    This sounds like fun!!

    1 · May 13

  • Fi

Looking forward to it! I prefer paperweight if I'm able to choose but either would be fun!

    May 9

    • Sarah

People will be able to choose from either the paperweight or the ornament stations- hopefully the numbers will work out evenly for each station:)

  • joan

It sounds ridiculously cool Sarah. Thanks for organizing!

  • Tabitha

Aww no more space. I wanted my sister to be my +1

    March 27

    • Sarah

Sorry Tabitha- Nate at Decatur glass gave us a max of 20... Definitely check this page closer to the date- people sometimes need to sell their spots...

      March 27

  • Karen T

Excited spots opened up! I have a creative streak. Looking forward to the class.

  • Sarah

Good news! I was able to get approval from Decatur Glassblowing to open up 5 spots- he's adding a second teacher to accomdate our group! Unfortunately, he can't take more than 20 people total in the studio so the 5 remaining spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis from the waitlist. If you're on the waitlist and would like to come, please RSVP and pay ASAP to secure your spot!

    March 23

  • Tina

    Yay! Thanks!!

    1 · March 12

  • Tina

Oh no! So sad it's full! Can we plan another soon??

    1 · March 11

    • Sarah

I just added a few more spots! We should be good with 15 people! I need to double check if Nate at Decatur Glassblowing can take more than that though:)

      March 11

    • Sarah

Tina- I confirmed with the studio that we can bring 15 people total- I have moved you off the waitlist but will need you to pay through pay pal to keep your spot. Thanks!

      March 11

  • Alan

Great timing. I started looking for a class a few days ago.
