Meet n Greet / Barter & Swap

Hi all,

Let us move forward with building our local networks and get started by getting to know one another.  Bring a light snack to share if you wish.

We'll discuss a little bit about the implementation of Community Weaver (proposed timebank system) as well as creating a physical resource directory.

We can also make a list of discussion topics & events to touch on over the coming months and how we can bring those discussions/workshops together as a group.

Bring your wares, from your garden to your get-rid of bin and everything in between to barter, swap, sell, or just plain give away.  It's a new location, so please note that this time we'll be at the same place as the plant swap

(Note: even for barter, it's a good idea to have a cash value in mind - or marked on the item) so that participants on both sides of the barter have a place to start negotiations.)

We are moving in the right direction, building community and connecting the dots with other groups in the area that are of similar mindset. Now we just need to get some upcoming meetings planned and worked out for the upcoming months. Thanks everyone for coming out.

Can Faye's list be compiled into a newsletter along with the title of Denise's book?

Good idea. Lets put together a summary of what was discussed and send it out to the various groups.

I will be bringing a truckload of Elephant Compost for sale or trade. $2.50 for each 5 gallons is the special price for this event if you bring your own containers. I also have bird seed,[masked] fertilizer, some tools, and more. Open to sorts of trades too. Thanks!

I am bringing several panels of vinyl lattice and scraps and some vinyl covered metal breathable shelving from the shed and a electric coffee maker and a set of oil paints and brushes and some canvases (which I dispise) and a few of my watercolor paintings for show and tell. I don't need much and will give my stuff to a needy person.

Here are the things I'd like to see on the agenda:
    1. WATER - And not just rain catchment.
    2. SHELTER – How to repair & maintain
    3. MEDICAL – I’m old with multiple diagnosis issues. Who can I turn to?
    4. TRANSPORTATION – Can we talk about how we’re going to move around?
    5. PEOPLE – Who knows what? Who can do what?
    6. COMMUNICATION – If the internet and cell service is cut off or becomes unaffordable HOW do we talk with each other?
    7. TRADE/BARTER – Personally, I don’t think our system is degraded enough (yet) to spend valuable time on this item
    8. SECURITY - There is absolutely NO WAY for MyMike and I to provide homestead security – so, how do we develop associations with others who can aid us if needed? Police? Handling of criminals?

Hi Faye. I really enjoyed your hot cherry peppers. Made just like my grandmother's. If you have any more I would like to purchase some. Looking forward to seeing you.

I might be running a wee bit late - hoping to harvest a lot of bamboo that morning (might have some to trade, in fact).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
