UPDATE:

The cost of the fair is $14 this year.  I do have coupons for a $2 discount that I will share with everyone.

Gates open at 10:00 a.m. for early shoppers.  We will meet everyone at the entrance to the PowWow (not the fairground entrance) at 11:30.  The opening parade will be at noon.

The date of this event is July 13, 2013.

I'm including their email from last year so you have an idea of what the event is about.

19th ANNUAL HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND POW-WOW AND SHOW SCHEDULED FOR JULY

Hollister, NC- Pow-Wow, an American Indian owned and operated company, will sponsor the 19th annual Howard County Pow-Wow/American Indian Show and Festival on July 14-15, 2012 at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland (1022 Fairgrounds Road  West Friendsship, MD)  . The pow-wow is an opportunity for the public to interact with American Indian dancers, singers, drummers, artists and craftspersons. Also, this event is an attempt by Pow-Wow to educate the public about American Indians, past and present, through the arts.

This years event will be held in the newly air-conditioned Exhibition Hall at the Fairgrounds.

The event will kick off with a parade of nations (grand entry) at 12:00 noon. A large contingent of Native American Dancers in regalia (American Indian outfits) will perform daily.

The public will be able to purchase some of the finest Native American crafts available. Items for sale include fine art turquoise jewelry, moccasins, beadwork, rugs, books, paintings, and more.

Fire dancer Juan Salinas of the Aztec Dancers will perform daily. Aztecis a term used to refer to certain ethnic groups of central Mexico, particularly those groups who spoke the Nahutal Language and who achieved political and military dominance over large parts of Mesoamerica in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, a period referred to as the Late post-Classic period in Mesoamerican Chronology. Often the term "Aztec" refers exclusively to the people of Tenochtitlan, situated on an island in Lake Texcoco, who called themselves Mexica Tenochca or Colhua-Mexica.

Buffalo stew, Indian fry bread, Indian tacos, Indian corn soup, and buffalo burgers are just a few of the Native American food items that will be on sale at the event. American fare, such as hot dogs, pizza, and hamburgers will be sold as well.

Admission to the Pow-Wow is $10.00.

This is a rain or shine event.
