Announcing a new Meetup for Games Gateway - U.S. Mid Atlantic Region!

Hello everyone,

We had a great meeting last week with Ben Sawyer, co-founder of the Serious Games Initiative, who shared with us the serious games taxonomy being developed to capture the wide range of uses and models of serious games. To see the taxonomy, visit

We next have a company that has made a name for itself both in entertainment game design and serious games design: Breakaway Games.

I hope you can join us!

When: October 16,[masked]:30 PM

Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description:
One of the most prominent serious and entertainment video games companies in the Region, Breakaway Games, will join us on October 16 at 6:30PM.

Walter Cheek of Breakaway will share with us some of the latest games including Pulse!, trends he sees taking place in Serious Games, where this games Initiative is headed, the direction in which it can and will grow. Walter will also cover best practices as to what works and does not work in serious game design, and how to most effectively use this medium for distributed learning.

This will also be an open forum for discussion and commentary so bring your questions and your ideas to the table.

6:30pm - Gathering and Networking
7:00pm - Meeting Begins and Intros
7:20pm - Presentation which will flow into Discussion and Q&A
8:45pm - Final Announcements

Please Note: While Garvey Schubert and Barer has kindly offered to host this event again (Thank you GSB Law!), we need to share the meeting wealth with other locations and need to try to hold this event elsewhere. If you have ideas, please contact me. Thanks!

I look forward to seeing you there!
