  • June 16, 2012 · 1:00 PM
  • 5th Planet Games

Schedule:

1. 1:00pm to 1:20pm Quick run down of the meetup, theme chosen, what jam is and rules

2. 1:20pm to 2:00pm break people up into teams (let them mingle to create teams)

3. 2:00pm to 6:45pm jam!

5. 6:45pm to 7:00pm clean up and people submit playable builds to google doc

4. 7:00pm to 8:20pm presentations

COME ON TIME, WE START AT EXACTLY 1PM!

Theme will be randomly chosen from here.

Come join in on the fun! You have little over 5 hours to build something awesome!!!

There will be free snacks offered by the lovely people at 5th Planet Games, it's in Roseville but trust me... The place rocks!

Requirements:

BRING A LAPTOP!!!! OR A COMPUTER OF SOME SORT!!!

Although you can still come if you are a designer, or an idea person, please make sure you bring some paper or something to be productive. The time is limited so needs to be spent building not chatting ;-) Just like before I will bring a bin of supplies if anyone is interested in making a table top game.

Rules:

I have made a post about some things you should and shouldn't be doing at the jam, make sure to check that out as well! CLICK HERE!

The jams happen once a month joe. No problem about being new to it all, join another team.

Joseph B., I haven't had any exposure to SDL or SFML, nor would I call myself an artist. I wanted to meet people who share programming interests, I don't know anybody who programs or even shares an interest in technology, period. I thought I'd use this opportunity to do so. Still cool to attend?

I'm new to developing. I'm currently learning C++ and I'm not fluent with any other languages. I still want to partake in today's event. Does anybody see a problem with that?

Sorry that I won't be coming. A bit far out for me, and getting back is an issue. I hope to make another event soon.

Hey Joseph...I am planning to come @1pm but I have this thing at 6pm and gonna have to leave around 5:45pm. I hate to leave my team hanging but at the same time I still want to come. Is it alright if I have to leave early?

Is anyone interested in doing a Kinect game or Facial recognition based game? I have basic frameworks for them for processing and OpenFrameworks that I can spruce up/get all the way ready if anyone is interested.

Thanks Devin :-D Also Seems YoYo Games made some announcements themselves recently for Game Maker :-) http://www.insidesocialgames.com/2012/05/23/yoyo-games-makes-cross-platform-development-more-affordable-with-gamemaker-studio/ Nothing like some healthy competition :-D

Unity just announced an Asset Store Madness sale with 50% off on a lot of packages and the sale extends to June 23rd. Just wanted to mention this for anything thinking about using Unity for the jam there are some good packages in the sale for use in game jam rapid prototyping so take advantage of grabbing them for this jam!
