Sac Jam #06 Lets stop talking about games and make them!

  • July 22, 2012 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Just like in the previous Game Jam the time period will be all about making games! Then at the end of the day we will present each of the games the teams created.

Everything officially starts at 1pm, but if you like the doors will be open at 12pm so you can come a little early and mingle if you like!

Schedule

1:00pm - 1:30pm meetup introduction/theme announced/break up into teams

1:30pm 2:00pm mingling/team breaking

2:00pm - 7:00pm build games

7:00pm to 7:30pm clean up for presentation

7:30pm to 8:00pm present games

Requirements

BRING A LAPTOP!!!! OR A COMPUTER OF SOME SORT!!!

Who can come

Although you can still come if you are a designer, or an idea person, please make sure you bring some paper or something to be productive. The time is limited and needs to be spent building not chatting ;-)

I loved how the process of the day went and enjoyed working with the individuals on my team.

Another great game jam! I think the review and summary session at the end was much better than the last game jam I went to. I learned alot from the review and think I will be able to put what I learned to use next time as well. Otherwise our Jams are fun and a great networking tool, thank you so much for organizing and putting them on for us!

@JustinOsterholt ah, sucks you won't be able to make it, but you should totally design a game with your daughter from home :-)

I'm running into car trouble. I'll have to work remotely. I've removed my RSVP so that I'm not taking up a physical slot.

@justin If you have iPhone or Android I recommend CamScanner app. Works pretty well as alternative to traditional scanner.

@AndrewDavis we have 40 people rsvp'ing so in reality maybe about 30 or so may come, we only have 26 chairs... So if you could bring maybe 5 or if you can more.

Favor to ask: if anyone has a few folding chairs please bring them. Even 1 is helpful. We have 26 chairs at the moment and I can maybe get a few more, but want to make sure we have seats for everyone. There's plenty of space and tables for people to break out.

@JoshuaGranick since I am sure a large percent of people here don't use haxe or nme for that matter for the jam perhaps you should be the programmer on a team using it :-)

    July 17, 2012

You might want to check out NME for the jam. The new version just came out. Its free, open-source and targets Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, BlackBerry, webOS, Flash and HTML5 from the same code: http://www.haxenme.org/showcase

Hey guys, I'm new to the group. Just graduated from College with a degree in sound design. I was hoping to get into some sound design for video games, if anyone needs it. Thanks!
