NY Gaming Meetup + GameGround Present: Social Media Week Happy Hour

Come celebrate NY Social Media Week with a Happy Hour sponsored by NY Gaming Meetup and GameGround.  There will be some great NY-gaming companies present, including AOL's, 4mm Games, OMGPOP, and plenty more.  Free beer, wine, and light snacks will be provided and we'll play some social-media inspired games, with prizes for participants and winners.  We've got a great loft space reserved for this event and hope to see you there!

This was a tough event to enjoy! There was a huge turnout (which is good!) and it seemed like the speakers had interesting things to say, but the venue + the crowd made it very difficult to hear and impossible to see. Once the speakers were done, there wasn't room for anyone to mingle or talk comfortably. The table with snacks and drinks was right in the middle of the room where people should have been standing.

I'm sure people who got there earlier had a much more positive experience and I'm looking forward to the next meetup, but this one was a bit overcrowded!

The event could've been of even greater value to the members if they were encouraged to wear badges indicating both their name and their affiliation (or interest -- e.g., graphics programmer, virtual goods). If a volunteer is willing to invest a little time, pre-printed badges could be available near the door, with blanks for guests, etc. In all, a very nice event, and good to see the NY game community slouching toward critical mass.

Hey all, I just wanted to intro myself and mention before the Meet Up I am currently looking for a developer to partner with my company, we have a very compelling game, strong business model, immediate monetization plan, front end already conceived/designed and fairly evolved specification for the product. I'm looking for a long term partner who would act as the technical lead. So anyway, I will be at the meet up tonight and very exited to meet anyone interested in learning more!

Was it necessary to RSVP? I had no clue. I saw "Happy Hour" and assumed it was at a bar.

Can I go even though I didn't get the chance to RSVP? I REALLY want to go!
