Class: Intro to Paper Prototyping

Evening Class: Intro to Paper Prototyping
Monday, May 5 at 6 pm

LESSON PLAN coming soon!

Who should attend

- Beginning and aspiring game designers
- Game designers who haven't tried paper prototyping yet

Class Description

The easiest and fastest step in game creation is building a paper prototype.Deidre takes a hands-on approach in class, helping you select an idea for a game and guiding you through the creation of a paper-based prototype. After a discussion of concepts and methods, attendees will break into teams, and have a short time to come up with a game idea. Because of the short timeframe, games may not be designed to completion. Materials will be provided.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

- Learn a set of basic techniques for how to turn a game idea into a physical paper prototype
- Split into groups and build a rough prototype of a simple game mechanic
- Discuss thoughts on paper prototyping techniques

- Understanding of basic paper prototyping techniques
- A group paper prototype (may discuss what to do with it amongst team members)

Please come to the class with ideas about simple game mechanics you're interested in trying. Note that the games will be built in groups, so not all ideas will get built.

Materials and Tools

None (will be provided)
