It's a Good Month to be Vegan!

Hello my fellow vegheads,

We had a fantastic Harvest Dinner Potluck on September 25 at Valerie's lovely Blue Moon Farm. We had at least 25 people show up and enjoy delicious, locally grown vegan dishes. The pictures are up if you want to take a look at them.

October is a great month to be vegan in North Carolina! Here are just some of the exciting things to look forward to in the upcoming weeks:

Bull City Vegan Challenge
When: The whole month of October!

This is, by far, one of the most exciting vegan things to happen within a 100 mile radius of Greensboro. Several local Durham restaurants have agreed to create a creative vegan dish to be on their menu for the month of October. Lucky people like us get to taste test these creations and decide which one is the best. Read more about it here and drool over the delicious looking food here! Get out there and taste them and then vote on them before they are gone!

The Grilled Asparagus Meetup
October 16, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.

We have another vegetarian restaurant in the local area! Yay! The Grilled Asparagus just opened it's doors in Winston-Salem on September 27, 2010. This Saturday, a group of us will go give our support to another veg-friendly business in the area and treat our tastebuds! Check out the Grilled Asparagus website here or follow them on Facebook. Hope to see you there on Saturday! If you can't make it then, make sure to get out there soon and show your support!

Walk for Farm Animals in Durham
October 16, 2010 at 12:45

On Saturday, October 16, you might consider driving up to Durham for lunch at one of the restaurants participating in the Vegan Bull City Challenge, then heading over to walk your lunch off at the Walk for Farmed Animals in support of Farm Sanctuary. Farm Sanctuary puts this on every year in an effort to spread the word about the suffering of farmed animals in our nation. It's a wonderful way to get the word out. And if you haven't had enough compassionate stuff for one day, then head back to Winston-Salem and join us for dinner!

The Lunch Club
Every Wednesday from 12:00 - 2:00

If you're in Greensboro on Wednesday during lunchtime, you should definitely RSVP for The Lunch Club. Valerie puts together a delicious three course vegan meal (appetizer, entree, and dessert) in the comfort of her lovely home. It's a wonderful treat to escape the office, donate $10, and get a delicious vegan meal that is filling and healthy while chatting with some like-minded friends. Make sure you email Valerie in advance, so she's knows you're coming. Her email address is [address removed].

Make sure to get out there and enjoy some of the wonderful things going on this month! We hope to see you at a meetup in the near future.
