Re: [gctechspace] See you tonight!

Also Dave, I killed the print job, played around, retried, but heater failed again constantly. So I killed it again, and we decided to finally attack the dang thing. Pulled the controller board off the frame, worked through sourcing problem areas, and then Mark and Viv did the soldering. By the time that was all done properly (hopefully), and tested, it was past time to go home, so the print job can wait for another day. We are reasonably confident that the heating issue is now fixed though.

I do not think the controller should be remounted on the frame as this exposes it to vibration unnecessarily. Mark suggested mounting it in a separate case and connecting it up via proper connectors, eg D connectors or whatever.

Steve,
I can order some bearing tomorrow.

We found the thermistor connector had a dry joint where the connector is soldered to the Sang board on Mork, almost looked like the pad is lifted. Resoldered and tested, can't fault it now, just no time to remount it.
Mork also needs X and Y axis calibration done, as now it is not doing perfect circles.

Dave I'm just uploading my pics to the meetup site..

Yes - it was a great meetup .... well done on fixing Mork (I'm going to keep plugging away with the names :))

We should get started right away building mindy too so we know what parts we are missing.

If someone can get some bearings that would be good - we used the last ones last night - I think Mark said he had a good ebay source.

Haven't been to the space in a while. Those new shelves look wicked!

The guys made sweet progress on the next reprap tonight. It now stands up on it's own :)
I guess the next big item is the challenging hot end assembly.

Also we fixed up reprap #1, an observant onlooker spotted the loose grub screw that was causing our belts to slip.
So it now prints out somewhat usable parts.
thermostat problem was located, will need to re-solder that connector to the sanguinololu board and we should be right to go!

Pics of the new reprap in progress should be up on the blog shortly.
(feel free to email me your own pics and I can add them to the blog, or add them yourselves ! )

Will be good to see you mate....

Good news from me too.... while I was out today - the arcol hotends arrived. I also have GCTechSpace stickers - so everyone who attends the meetup tonight will get a free sticker. Will be $1 each after tonight as I did pay for these out of my own pocket.

I started working on reprap today but was short of washers - if you have any spare feel free to bring them along. I also have a spare hacksaw I will donate to the space.

Does anyone know where the 2 grey top pieces (on tip of triangle) from reprap #3 went? - at the moment we have pink one on there but I was hoping to keep the grey/black/vader theme going on there. They were definitely in the pack I purchased from Trifid.... I do hope no-one took them as they were mine that I paid for myself.

Hey guys!

Just remembered we're meeting up tonight.
I'm heading on up. Tight schedule so only got time to drop down some brochures and have a quick play with the reprap :)
Bringing down another hacksaw to help out with cutting the bits up for reprap #2 and #3.

Cheers,
Dave
