Google Compute Engine talk by Mark Cohen [At Google Cambridge]

Good news folks. We were able to schedule a dedicated talk about Google Compute Engine by Marc Cohen Google Developer Advocate on Thursday August 9 2012. Doors open at 6:30PM.

Marc Cohen is located in Mountain View California. We are going to use the Google Video Conferencing system to bring Marc here. This is a very high performance video system that is provides for interactive meetings. People who attended Google I/O Extended in Cambridge had this experience.

Synopsis of the Google Compute Engine Talk

Computing resources are faster, cheaper and smaller than ever, however, owning and maintaining those resources continues to be an expensive proposition. This talk will describe how you can leverage Google’s computing infrastructure, which routinely manages vast quantities of distributed data, at global scale, with sub-second response time, under extremely heavy load. Google Compute Enginemakes that infrastructure available to everyone. Learn how to harness this technology to tackle your most challenging problems through live demonstrations and code examples.

Great people + subject, but could have been condensed to much shorter, even excluding the tech difficulties at the start.

Interesting and useful talk, but some technical issues with the teleconference. Definitely leaves me wanting to try using GCE for some toy project to get more familiar.
