Collaborative Meetup with DC Hadoop User Group - MongoDB Integration

NCAGTUG is set to hold our next Meetup on November 17, 2010 with Washington DC Area - Hadoop User Group (HUG). The Topic will be
Integration of MongoDB with Hadoop for large-scale distributed data processing. "Apache Hadoop is a software framework that supports data-intensive distributed applications under a free license.[1] It enables applications to work with thousands of nodes and petabytes of data. Hadoop was inspired by Google's MapReduce and Google File System (GFS) papers" -

MongoDB,
10gen, is going to be in town running MongoDC and are excited to talk to us at our Meetup about MongoDB integration with Hadoop. Location: Library of Congress - National Digital Library Learning Center James Madison Building 101 Independence Avenue, SE Washington, DC 20540 Agenda: 6:30 - 7:00 Food and Refreshments, Socialize 7:00 - 7:45 Brendan McAdams - Learn how to integrate MongoDB with Hadoop for large-scale distributed data processing. Using tools like MapReduce, Pig and Streaming you will learn how to do analytics and ETL on large datasets with the ability to load and save data against MongoDB. With Hadoop MapReduce, Java and Scala programmers will find a native solution for using MapReduce to process their data with MongoDB. Programmers of all kinds will find a new way to work with ETL using Pig to extract and analyze large datasets and persist the results to MongoDB. Python and Ruby Programmers can rejoice as well in a new way to write native Mongo MapReduce using the Hadoop Streaming interfaces. 7:45 - 8:00 Short Break 8:00 - close TBD Don't Forget: Register for MonogoDC:
MongoDB - DC Conference Look forward to see you there! ____________ Chida

A lot of the content was over my head dealing as it did with Hadoop, MongoDb (which I'd never heard of before this Meetup) and Java, Python and such. However, it was informative as to what products/tools people are using to handle really large data sets.
