May: Nominate a Google Developer Expert Month

user 8847491

Hi all,
As some of you may be aware, the Google Developer Experts (GDE) program recognizes the rockstars in our developer community for their outstanding work helping Google developers worldwide.
May is the official “Nominate a Google Developer Expert (GDE) Month” across all North American GDG chapters and we invite you to participate.
How, you ask? Simple as 1,2,3.

1. Think about developers who are rock stars in Google developer technologies, write great code and open-source it, and share their experiences in blogs, on social media and by speaking at GDGs, meetups and conferences. (Yes, it could even be you)

2. Nominate these rock stars using the form at. In the referrer field (“your name”), ask them to include your name and "GDG Silicon Valley" as the name of your GDG chapter

3. Candidates will be evaluates and interviewed within three months of their nomination

For more information about the value and benefits of the GDE program, here are some FAQs.

Q: What are GDEs?
A: Google Developer Experts (GDEs) are experts in one or more Google developer technologies. The GDE program recognizes the exemplary work done by these rock stars for Google Developers worldwide by inviting them to be part of the growing GDEcommunity. This also makes them a resource for GDGs and others who are into Google technologies.

Q: What are the criteria to be accepted as a GDE?
A: Google Developer Experts (GDEs) are experts in one or more Google technologies. GDEs are gurus, mentors and friends; they are developers just like you, they speak at events, have a strong online presence and an excellent technical background in their field. These independent developers share their knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm about Google technologies with fellow developers worldwide, inspiring them and helping them grow. Visit the member directory at to find an expert in the products you care about.

Q: Can I nominate a person without asking them first?
A: Yes, that is fine. We will send each nominee a very polite email telling them we have heard great things about their work and asking them if they would be interested in interviewing to become a GDE. If they say no, we will not bother them again.

Q: Can I nominate myself?
A: Yes.

Q: What are the benefits and obligations of being a GDE?
A: Find more info at.

Q: Can I talk about this on social media?
A: Yes, feel free to tell your friends by email or social media.

Thank you for your participation.
Your GDG Organizers.
