Google IO Extended Melbourne

Join us at Google Developer Group at an absurd hour as we live stream events occurring at Google I/O.

We'll be connecting with groups and special guests to chat, gossip while we dissect the new product and platform announcements.

With giveaways and snacks, it's genuinely awesomely sociable fun :)

Notes: We recommend you bring something comfortable to wear to enjoy the webcast at the late hour.

==UPDATED: 10:30am 15th May==

We're just 24 hours away now from the big event. We have some great announcements to make in the lead-up to the event if you haven't been following...

UBER: Free rides to and from Google IO Extended

Our friends at UBER have sponsored our event. UBER is everyone's private car driver; the smartest, coolest way to get from any destination and we're pleased to say they'll be entirely free to and from the venue.

Simply enter the code GoogleIOMay when ordering your ride. Rides must begin or end at York Butter Factory. Promotional code must be applied before ride is taken. Free means up to $50. Valid between 8pm Wednesday 15 May8am Thursday 16 May.

That should make coming and going from the event so simple. And very luxurious :) visit and download the app for Android/iPhone.

GETTING IN: How to find York Butter Factory
I'd highly recommend you use the free UBER service to shuttle you as they'll be familiar with York Butter Factory.

Upon arrival at 62-66 King Street, you'll simply need to knock on the side door to be let in. We will be patrolling often. If you get stuck, call Leon on[masked] and I'll let you in ;)

LIVE Stream Hookups & IO Ambassadors

We've confirmed that GDG Sydney will be Hanging out with us from1:30am. We are hoping to connect to the other Sydney, Queensland, New Zealand GDGs.

We also have people on the ground we intend to connect to. As part of that, we've been assigned IO Ambassadors who we can tweet/poll to get direct answers to questions we may have. Of course it's going to be crazy during Keynote so expect answers to flow in the hours/days after.

HOW TO POST A QUESTION FOR IO AMBASSADORS: Simply write a post on the Google IO Extended event page.

REMEMBER: Keep Warm & Comfortable!

We'll have the requisite chairs and beanbags at York Butter Factory but I do suggest you bring something warm to wear and something comfortable due to the late hour. Pillows, blankets, warm jumpers are a great idea with these cold winter nights and all.

We've got food and drink catered for but we may end up blowing our budget due to the unexpectedly high awesome turnout. We've scored a deal with a local pizza supplier to get fresh delicious slices all night at a great price as a backup plan.

One last thing: We've got some sweet swag waiting for you! T-shirts, stickers and limited edition pins. You'll receive them upon entry so be sure to get there on time at 1:30am (or a little earlier if you'd like). The keynote starts promptly at 2am so it's going to be manic crazy :)

So last of all, if you get stuck during the event please feel free to call me on[masked] or Google Talk/Email me at [masked]

Folks, I do developer outreach to Android developers on behalf of Samsung and keen to help small and indie developers attain higher success by driving downloads and revenue.
Just to know, how many of you have already published apps/games in Google Play ?

any special instructions on how to get in to the event or will it be self-obvious from standing in front of the building? Is there a special knock or handshake? A phone number to call?
