FREE-April South End Gallery Crawl Walking Tour and Food Truck Friday

HSE-GalleryFB (3)

Join Good Eats and Meets for the April First Friday Gallery Crawl and Food Truck Rally in South End.  This month  has some new features and great opening exhibits so hope you will come join us. Outdoor events like this are quite tough for getting the group together but are so worth it. I will be attending this event personally.  Look for me in the Food Truck Lot, I will have a Hawaiian Lei on and will there at 5:00.  The tour starts at 6 at Atherton Mill and my plan was to grab a bite and head back for the tour. Look for the South End Tent by Atherton Mill which is where the tour will start. Please make sure to RSVP for the tour as they do fill up.  There are only 15 tickets left.  Do so here...

They will have maps and information about the gallery crawl at 2 locations…Atherton Mill and Food Truck Friday lot so just look for the branded South End tents.Below is information from Historic South End...

We are continuing with the Free South End Gallery Crawl Walking Tour for April as these tours have become very popular. April’s walking tour will take a slightly different route as we will start at Atherton Mill and work our way down Camden Rd. We’ll see some special features and some new galleries not featured on previous tours. It’s free to attend but you must RSVP and space is limited!

In addition to the Gallery Crawl, South End offers a wide range of dining options from great local restaurants to Food Trucks. Feel free to check out Sullivans, Carrabas, The Liberty, Pike’s, Big Ben’s, Icehouse, Zucca’s Pizza, Mac’s, Phat Burrito or Common Market before, during or after the Gallery Crawl. Lots of other shops are open for you to explore between galleries as well so come make a night of it!

“Spring Into Art” exhibit this Friday, April 5th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at theCharlotte Art League Gallery (1517 Camden Road).

Juror for the Show is Christie Taylor.

After winning a blue ribbon for her drawing, Day at the Circus, at age 7, Christie’s parents framed it and hung it on the wall in their home.  Their simple gesture of appreciating their daughter’s creative expression – was witness enough for Christie to devote her life’s work to helping others explore self-discovery through images.

As co-owner of Hodges Taylor Gallery for 33 years, Christie Taylor has earned well-deserved recognition for her dedication to the visual arts, business entrepreneurship and community service.

Christie received a B.A. in Art from Queens College in Charlotte and attending the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia, She managed Art Gallery Originals in Winston-Salem and McNeal Gallery in Charlotte prior to her 33 year partnership with Dot Hodges with Hodges Taylor Gallery

Lark and Key Gallery – After five years, two locations, one shaky economy, not sure how many times we’ve been mistaken for a locksmith, a multitude of matches made with artwork and homes, and a few headaches – coupled with numerous moments of self doubt, we’re still here thanks to you!

We ring in the new year with FLOURISH - a mixed media exhibition that celebrates our love of nature.  Gallery artists Dawn Rentz and Amy Sanders will be featured along with guests artists Mirabel Angel, Marcy Baker, Julie Guyot, Kristin Kieffer and Jen Swearington (Jennythreads).  Each one draws upon the natural world as well as textiles for inspiration.  Expect influences such as vast landscapes, botanical imagery, quilting and art nouveau illustrations.

I don't know anyone in the group and I'm not sure when my flight will arrive. Opting out, because I don't want to walk around alone.
