Multiplication Mania! - ages 8+

Join us as we present a new and dynamic teacher at gee!

Lora Kermode is the founder of GEMDAS® Algebra Success® and has just come off of an amazing Algebra course in Long Beach.  Some of our gee! members attended and gave it rave reviews.

Here, Lora will present her one day Multiplication Mania class.  Discover how to use your fingers and hands to help you remember the multiplication facts (6's to 15's).  This is a great intervention for students who struggle with memorizing the times tables.  And discover a new way to multiply multi-digit numbers.

Multiplication Mania

Endorsement from a gee! member:

“This program is so wonderful.  It’s given my daughter all the tools she needs to be successful in math ….  It’s given Jasmine skills that she didn’t know she could ever achieve.  And she really didn’t have any belief in herself with math and she was struggling.  We paid tutors to get her up to speed.  But not only did she lack the skills in math, but she also lacked the confidence and she thought that math was simply bigger than her and she wouldn’t ever be able to conquer it.  That’s what frightened me—was that she lost belief in herself.  With this program, she is just joyful about math.  She’s successful in math.  GEMDAS® strategies are amazing and I hope that all teachers use those.  They teach kids math skills as well as the joy of math and knowing that they CAN do it.  GEMDAS® is absolutely incredible.  I wish every single school would employ those strategies.”

As the founder of GEMDAS® Educational Services, LLC, Kermode’s specialty is working with math teachers on how to use multi-modal strategies that target the different learning modalities so all students are actively engaged and are able to easily access the material.  After spending some time as a corporate recruiter, Kermode realized that was not her life purpose as she had a deep desire in her soul to teach children. She went on to earn her teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach and a Master of Science degree in Education from California State University, Fullerton. She has broad experience educating at-risk K through 12 students in innercity schools, including teaching Algebra to ninth graders who struggled with the subject. As a classroom teacher, Kermode developed a system for teaching Algebra in a compelling, memorable and interactive way that’s designed for students to gain a conceptual understanding of math while having fun. The students she taught began to develop a newfound confidence in math and went on to outperform the statewide average on standardized testing year after year. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including Teacher of the Year and the prestigious Governor’s Teaching Fellowship.  Kermode has mentored new and veteran teachers and has experience as a Support Provider for the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Program.
