N.E.R.F. vs Zombies

Nerds Equipped with Radical Firepower vs Zombies!

We can meet at the left side of the park over by the picnic benches next to the big baseball diamond if that works for folks. We have some extra weapons we can loan out and everyone is free to bring their own Nerf gear as well. Zombie dress is encouraged but not required.

Suggested Rules of Play:

Goal:  Survivor team must collect the resource flag and make it to the safe house with at least one member uninfected / Zombie team must tag all survivors before they win.  After one team wins teams re-assemble, ammo is cleaned up, and another round beings.

Survivor Team will have fewer members than the zombie team (if 9 then 3 players) and ammo will be limited to 10 to 15 darts to start / no reloads unless you reach specified ammo caches around the field.

Once shot, ammo stays on the ground until cleanup at the end of the round.

Any player tagged by a zombie must count to 25 / after 25 seconds they turn and can no longer help the survivor team

Any player caught shooting zombies in the head will be ejected for stereotypical movie behavior / unethical play.

Zombie Team will have the majority of members (if 9 then 6 players)  and will GENTLY tag survivors to turn them.

If hit on any body part with a dart a zombie must stop and count to 10 before moving again.

Zombies may run but may not speak to each other / over-intelligent grunts & groans may disqualify your corpse

Any player caught eating brains will be ejected for stereotypical undead behavior / unethical play.

*DISCLAIMER*: Organizers are poor folks who are not liable for injuries, brains, or lost ammunition. Players not playing safely and with good sportsmanship will be ejected from the game.  Bring goggles or other eye protection and never aim for the head - no matter what zombies are only frozen for 10 seconds.  Remember zombies were people too!

*Remember - cap of 15 darts per player regardless of gun. If you use rapid fire weapons you may want to reconsider or borrow a slower gun to save ammo.

NO MODDED WEAPONS! (Sorry technomancers)

I had a great time, and would love to have a repeat. Thanks to all who came.

Thanks for showing up for our first Nerf vs Zombies run. After trying a few variations, I think we have our preferred rules down. Next run will be in November, once we get done with our Halloween planning and partying.

My cell is[masked], in the event anyone can't find the group of nerf gun wielders....

Tera and I will be referring this, so teams (if everyone shows up) will be roughly 4 humans and 9 zombies. We can adjust team sizes accordingly. We will also rotate teams around with each game.

If I can make the date

From what I read mêlée weapons offer too much advantage to survivors therefore guns with an ammo limit are suggested instead. Bandanas are fine for zombie identification. Don't forget goggles/eye gear as well.

Locked and Loaded. Melee weapons rules? Distinguish between zombies and players with bandanas?

Hello Everyone! We've got a date AND rules now -- please read through the revised event description. Post any questions below.

Hello! Sorry for the hiatus - I'm going to work up some rules this month and aim for this Meetup to happen either the first or second Saturday in September. That work for folks? I'll post up rules this month for review.

In terms of types of guns - keep in mind all ammo shot has to be picked up at the end. So guns with smaller magazines or slower fire rates may be better. NO MODDED WEAPONS - by this I mean any Nerf guns modified to shoot harder/faster than normal. Weapons with just a custom paint job like a steampunk kit or pink duct tape gun are fine.

I'm in. I live close by so super convenient (with raising two boys, I don't have a lot of time). What kind of nerf gun is the best to bring. My boys have a ton of guns.

Okay, "CA spring" is nearing so now might be a good time to figure out the basics/structure of how we want to play/pull off the Nerf War. Would everyone be down for a weekend cafe meetup to start looking into the details of our zombie war?

This sounds incredibly fun (I have a great and yummy blood recipe) but I can only make it on sundays. I know the date is not set yet so if it fits I am totally down & I can bring at least 2 other people if not more.

Depending on the exact date; I will be there with tons o' Zombie killing foam weaponry -- enough to share with others.

Drew and I will be out of town the weekend of Oct. 26th - 28th. Otherwise we'd have to squeeze in a morning battle before some upcoming meetups. Or we can always reschedule around Dia de Los Muertos in November
