Designer Sessions

The" Designers Sessions" series of events will revolve around game designers of all stripes coming together. We will discuss our experiences and difficulties of developing the systems, mechanics and lore of our hobby. We will debate the pros and cons of game systems, and assist each other with problems in the games we are currently (or hoping to be) working on.

We will also play test games that designers are currently working on, or just play games that we really enjoy.

Topics for this Session will include:

What makes a good feedback form?  How do I wrestle useful suggestions from the people playing my demo?

What other topics would people like to discuss?

Is there a meeting planned/scheduled for this month?

Jeff Boucher-Zamzo has been booking the room, anyone else have an "in" at GPS and can find out if the room is available next Tuesday? Though I guess we could stand in the hallway or meet at a coffee shop nearby.

Question for the gentleman with the crayon printer; would it work on felt to make a soft gameboard you could fold up or roll into a tube? (like the one in the Privateer tin) I can bring Privateer with me next time so you can take a look at what I'm talking about.

Also, Jeff, while the discussions are productive, we always seem to have fewer playtesters than things needing playtesting. Do you think there'd be interest from the rest of the GPS in a specifically playtest meetup in addition to the designer sessions? Maybe on the second Tuesday evening of the month? Designers post ahead how many players they're looking for and a blurb about the game, attendees indicate which they'd like to play? We could schedule one for September and see how it goes?

I might not make it tomorrow night, my wive's sister in law passed away on Saturday, and I am not sure I will be able to make it to the designer session.

David, are you finished with the prototype? I'm working on bringing my own prototypes-- same deck of card, two variant sets of rules. And maybe something else. But we'll see...
