Designers Sessions

The "Designers Sessions" series of events will revolve around game designers of all stripes coming together. We will discuss our experiences and difficulties of developing the systems, mechanics and lore of our hobby. We will debate the pros and cons of game systems, and assist each other with problems in the games we are currently (or hoping to be) working on.

We will also play test games that designers are currently working on, or just play games that we really enjoy.

I missed it. Great idea for an event. Should do more gaming events. Wednesdays seams to be working out for me, or thursdays.

The GPS spaces are scheduled heavily during the week, especially Wednesdays and Thursdays, but if another location is found I'm sure there are folks in GPS, United Geeks of Gaming, and other meet up groups who'd be interested!

You could always try to set up a Wednesday gaming meetup, either at FFG, Tower Games, or one of the many coffee shops in Northeast. I am usually down for any post office-hours game night during the week.

Great to meet you all and play games. Eric and Jenine were very grateful for the feedback and testing. They got a lot of great ideas to improve the game.

What kind of games is everyone bringing?

I will have a paper prototype of a concept I'm still refining. It's sort of meant to be an extreme simplification of the worker placement mechanic. (Which almost makes it abstract strategy.) I'll probably also bring the digital prototype of the previous iteration of the same game.

I'll have a rough version of a card game to test some randomly dealt winning conditions.

So its totally cool to bring a friend who has a game he is working on? Do people actually want to playtest other people's games? He would really appreciate some feedback but I want to make sure this is the right venue before showing up with a playtest session in mind...

It is a 1-4 player co-op board game so I think 2-4 players would be great. Playtime is 2 hours-ish. It is themed after a popular Sci-Fi show. The mechanical bits are all there (it just needs more flavor text). We could set up the game and just accommodate the first interested players - 4 max (and we will take anyone with an hour or more to give it a whirl). Thanks in advance for your help.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
