Hi. I want to play but don't know how. Can anyone teach me?

Sure. The mechanics of Shadowrun are pretty simple. Character generation is the complicated part (but there should be time to teach you that since it sounds like this Monday will just be chargen). Have you played any tabletop role-playing games before? If so, which ones?
I played D&D for 5 minutes 15 years ago. I currently play MTG.

Coming in with little or no experience is perfectly fine. One of my hopes is that we will allow new played to jump in and find the types of games they like; then they can join a campaign that they like after trying things out.

I will be starting a "drop in drop out" Shadowrun 5th Ed Missions game. If you would like to participate during future RPG meetups, stop by and make characters.

Will you be running SR5 as written, using the (now officially defunct) "hot fix", or some other set of changes/errata?
I will be using SR5 as written. This should make it easier for players that are new or have played in other SR5 games. As the group may change from session to session it also alleviates any "what are the house rules" discussions. I'm not aware of any existing SR5 errata, but if those are released I will look at them and make a ruling then.
Here's the few errata I know of that are widely uncontested: 1) Used Cyberware can be purchased during chargen; 2) Dwarves have Thermographic vision; 3) Dwarves and Trolls pay increased lifestyle (20% and 100%) but do not pay extra for gear [this is corrected from beta everywhere except in the chargen section (you'd think that would be where they would proof-read the closest)]; 4) Autosofts [omitted accidentally] have Rating*2 availability and Rating*500 cost

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
