Game Designer Sessions

Have an idea for a game?  Enjoy tinkering with rules, graphic design, or game theory?  Maybe you're just looking for someone to bounce ideas off before you commit yourself?

This meetup series is for game designers of all types and experience levels, from those employed in the industry to enthusiastic hobbyists.  Each meeting will include time for play-testing and providing feedback on participant works-in-progress.

Discussion topics, speakers, and other special events will be noted on specific sessions.

If you're bringing something to play-test, please post a comment; tell us a bit about it, what makes it cool or unique, and what you're hoping to learn from the testing.  "Is this worth developing?" is a perfectly valid testing question.

Have an idea for a discussion or special event?  Post it to the Thoughts for 2014 discussion thread in the Designer Round Table.

Always super fun. Great to get feedback for "Ain't Gonna Happen".

Ran into some problems with equipment I am working on. Not entirely sure I'll be able to get it sorted out by start time.

Sorry, I'm not going to be able to make it today. My husband had a heart attack yesterday so I will be with him in the hospital for a while. He's doing better, he did all the right things like taking 2 aspirin when he had symptoms and going to the ER. Hope to see you all soon! I really want to play the bluffing card game!! :oD

So sorry to hear that. I hope he recovers quickly. The cards will still be here when he is recovered at home. :)

It turns out I've got a bunch of stuff to catch up on at the office so I won't be able to make it over tonight.

I'm bringing a new version of International Relations (a.k.a. "I don't need to still joke about it being a ripoff of Diplomacy because it's kind of not now"). I hope there are some playtesters interested!

I've dropped the Chosen One stuff, and there's some new experimental mechanics, including special player powers that can be loaned.

Need to play test what I expect to be the final version of my game, Alchemia, before sending it back to Z-man Games. Z-man Games is interested in the game but they wanted some revisions.

I'm booked usually on friday's. Tsuinshi anime meetings are usually on the days you run this. I will however be at open gaming like always.

I'll be bringing along a bluffing card game called "Ain't Gonna Happen" for 3 -6 players. Play time is about 45 minutes give or take 10 minutes (depending on number of players). I'm trying to determine if I've got the correct number of special cards and determine if the game has the right proportion of luck and skill.

I'm hoping to get a play test of my game.

I was able to do a first playtest of 'Chicken Roundup' with a friend and came up with a lot of ideas to tweak it. If it seems to be flowing well after changes are made I'll bring it along.
