Good Afternoon Geeks,
As we begin to grow - we've had to begin limiting reservation numbers as well as updating event times and venues.
With that said please be aware that we've updated the policies for the group this morning you can see these changes below. Please note that these policies take effect as of August 13, 2012. Any changes will be noted with a date stamp.
Please email if you have any additional questions.
Thank you,Carrie Thomas Organizer
Events with Reservations
Events that involve a reservation are scheduled to begin at least 15 minutes in advance of the reservation. If you are not present at the time of the start of the reservation and have not gotten in touch with organizer – you will forfeit your RSVP.
Prix-fixe Menu Events
There are a variety of great one price brunches, lunches and dinners in DC. If you sign on for any of these events denoted with prix-fixe in either the title of the event or in its description you MUST order the prix-fixe option.
If you do not – you will be asked to make other arrangements.
We understand that everyone loves trivia – so do we! That’s why we cap the rsvp number or close rsvp’s after a certain time. Certain venues have certain rules however; the ones below are universal for trivia.
No Show Policy
Please be courteous to your fellow geeks. Registration for some of the events is limited as we have limited space at each venue. So please, don't sign up unless you are serious about attending. If a particular meet-up is full, you can add your name to the waiting list and take a spot when others cancel.
We understand that things happen and sometimes your schedule might change. Please try to anticipate those schedule conflicts as far in advance as possible and take a minute to change your RSVP status. This is not just "polite," it makes a practical difference:
To facilitate planning and ensure enough spaces for people who want to attend, there is a 3-strikes no-show/late cancellation policy. While this may sound rather strict, the intention is to be fair to the organizer, the venues where we have reserved space, and all the members. Here is the process and policy, starting August 13, 2012:
The organizer prints an attendance list 24 hours before the meet-up, takes attendance at the gathering, and then marks attendance on the meet-up site. No-show means that someone signed up, but did not attend. If someone changes an RSVP less than 24 hours in advance of the meet-up time, this is considered a late cancellation and it is treated and recorded on the meet-up site the same as a no-show.
After the first no-show/late cancellation, the organizer will remind the member about this policy. If you no-show or late cancel 3 times within any 6 month period, you will be banned from the group.
The organizer will send you notices after the first and second strike, so you know your status. On the third - you will be notified of your removal from the group and the policy.
