There was alot of talk at the first meetup this year of when will get another LAN meetup on the go, alot of people seem to favour March and will the aim to get 4 of these in this year its a good place to start! When we have numbers for who wants to go we can book a definite date im thinking first or second weekend of March. So ignore the date for now and please state your preference in your RSVP! Previous LAN's have been at gamerbase which is pretty good I think, details are here: http://www.gamerbase.com/?a=piccadilly /Matt
_______
And some additional info for those who haven't been at the Gamerbase before:
1) We are allowed to bring our own drinks (non-alc only :p) and food.
2) Each block consists of 5 PCs, so we'll be sitting in groups. If we want to go for drink or food in between we can just log off, tell a member of staff, and then return to our PCs again. (There are also consoles in case any console gamers are around)
3) We pay as we come. We usually get a group discount, so with the first LAN it was £15 for 7 hour passes or £20 for full day, and at the second LAN we got 9 hours for the £15. Going to contact them again once we have an (approximate) final number of participants and let you know.
4) In case you are wondering about games, last time we played mainly CSS, HL, Quake, UT, COD MW3, SC2, L4D. There is also an over 18 room with only 6 PCs where you can play games like L4D2. (Last time it was brilliant in there - eating burgers while playing a nice 3on3. Like in good ol' days!)
And as Bruno suggested we could do Laser Tag before the LAN (or in between) since it's also in the Trocadero building.I would definitely be up for it!

10th or 17th are exactly the weekends I can't, will be away on the Alps >_<'
we have other events in the pipeline for feb,
George, if its your bday then thats gotta be the day if you have nothing else planned! ill even bake birthday brownie ^_^
Shall we keep Feb 25th in line for the next monthly geekpub though? With a bag full of NAMCO tokens...
i think namco is worth a second shot for those that didnt manage to make it in Jan or couldn't find the group :) and because it was so much frelling fun!
Namco on the 28th would be good, even have friends considering coming along if it's on a weekend :)
hey - if possible can it be a saturday ...it would be more more fun/less tiring during the afternoon/day?
I definitely second the idea of having second Namco day, and on a Saturday! - would be nice to have more time to chat with and meet people and also play some games. It would also be good for people for which it is not convenient to go out on a weekday..
the only problem with namco and weekends is a much greater chance of it being booked out
can i just mention it does look bad if we book say 20 seats and only 10 people turn up so please be sure that you DO want to come, fair enough if something last minute crops up but id like us to have a more definite number this time round ^_^
Shouldn't be a big problem though. Last time the staff were really friendly and gave us 2 more hours to wait for the rest of us that might turn up. In the end we were only 9 from 15 booked places, so they seem pretty cool with it. But obviously if we were to get a group discount for 20 people we should be at least 20.. :)
yeah totally what i mean, they are cool and it is nice to get discounts,
also maybe laser tag could be separate event, i know i was too tired and it was late to goto laser tag after, or for the more hardcore geeks paintball, will have to gauge interest in that for around the summer time :) now thats some real shooter action with force feedback :)
Hi! If it's the second weekend I might come. Will there be different skill levels? I'm kind of...intermediate? But would still be fun to play so long as I don't spend the entire time respawning.
Hi Jennifer, don't worry about skill level. Last time we were all low-medium and everyone had fun. Give it a shot! :) And it's on the 10th since most people can make it.
Aah, shame, returning from NZ on the 11th. :( Catch you next time!
Here the mail from Gamerbase with all the infos (I've reserved a few spaces more just in case, because it will be very busy that day):
"Hi Gianna,
I've reserved 28 PCs on the 10th of March for you, and Gordon has authorised us to give your group discounted Saturday day passes for £20 and student rates for the 8 hours (again £20 - 9h=£20 @ student price). You may as well go for day passes all round and anyone who fancies staying later will be able to :)...
...However, in case you weren't aware we have a Starcraft 2 tournament (1-6pm usually) and the UFC 3 launch tournament (12pm onwards) running on the same day so the centre may be a little crowded/noisy!
Please let us know if you have any questions or wish to change anything"
