GIS Day Activities at Young Middle School, GT, and Marlow's Tavern

Hi everyone,

Good news! GIS Day is just around the corner and MAGS has a full day of activities planned!

We’ll start off the day at Young Middle School engaging students with an introduction to GIS including a brief field survey of campus. Our group is scheduled to host an activity in two classes—a 6th grade class from 8:55 AM - 9:55 AM and a 7th grade class from 9:55 AM - 11 AM. There’ll be roughly 20-26 students per class, and we’ll have access to a computer lab to upload data onto OpenStreetMap. I propose that we get together over the weekend to refine and finalize our plans. If the weekend does not work, please let me know your availability.

After Young Middle School, we’ll head to Georgia Tech’s GIS Day Map and Poster Competition where students show off their best work. Of course, following tradition, there’ll be a GIS Day cake for all to enjoy.

To close the day, we’ll wind down at Marlow’s Tavern Midtown. (You’ll receive a MAGS MeetUp invite about this.)

Thank you very much and talk to you soon!
